WWE/TNA News: More notes from Hulk Hogan's appearance on Howard Stern this morning Oct 28, 2009 - 10:48:16 AM
Hulk Hogan talked mainly about his personal life and a little about WWE and TNA wrestling on this morning's Howard Stern show, similar to his interview on Larry King Live last night on CNN.
Hogan was asked if he is still on good terms with Vince McMahon. "Probably not because I signed with TNA," Hogan said. He added that he has branched out on his own before "and it should be okay." -- Read more details on the Hogan-McMahon Stern discussion here.
Hogan also said he had follow-up surgery on his back two weeks ago and he's still in "quite a bit of pain." Hogan is scheduled to wrestle in Australia next month against Ric Flair.
Caldwell's Analysis: We can draw the following conclusions after this interview on Howard Stern and last night's interview on Howard Stern: Priority #1 for Hogan: sell the book. Priority #2: promote Hulk Hogan. Priority #3: cast ex-wife Linda Hogan in a negative light. Priority #4: talk up Nick and Brooke Hogan as good kids. Priority #5: talk WWE and Vince McMahon. Priority #6: talk TNA.
Wade Keller and Bruce Mitchell talked in-depth about this story in the VIP Audio Section last night, which I highly recommend listening to. The key for TNA and TNA president Dixie Carter is that they have to be willing to get burned by Hulk Hogan's self-promotion if they want to advance to the next level as a premiere wrestling organization. Hogan will give TNA credibility to score a Monday night TV deal, but TNA has to accept the possibility he won't contribute much more than that. In two major interviews reaching two major demographics, he hasn't shown any interest in talking about TNA or what TNA can offer compared to WWE.
