WWE News: Mickie James branching out into a new career, including background you won't read elsewhere Oct 27, 2009 - 11:50:42 AM
WWE diva Mickie James has signed with country music representatives in Nashville, Tenn. to launch a professional career as a country music artist, reports allaccess.com.
Mickie is expected to announce her "intentions" in the country music industry within the next few weeks after signing with a management group for her new career. She is expected to address whether she will continue as a pro wrestler for WWE.
Many people are surprised she would make the jump to country music, but Jim Ross reported in June that Mickie was recording a demo to see if there was any interest from the music industry in her singing abilities.
Mickie also said in a December 2008 interview that she had aspirations outside of pro wrestling. She specifically wanted to star in a movie.
"Mickie James has realized a considerable amount of success in WWE as a four-time former WWE Women's champion. While she remains dedicated to growing as a wrestler, she has her eyes elsewhere," I reported in December.
In the interview, Mickie said the WWE schedule was wearing on her. "I find it especially challenging when we come off a long tour and fly into town our fans are at the airport waiting for autographs," she said. "We are all exhausted and can't wait to get to our hotels."
