The Connecticut Democratic Party sent an email to reporters today drawing attention to past indiscretions on WWE TV in attempt to discredit former WWE CEO's Linda McMahon Senate bid in 2010.

The email said WWE objectifies women, drawing attention to notorious sex acts on WWE TV. The email included a link to the infamous scene where Triple H appeared to have sex with the corpse of Katie Vick.

A spokesperson for the CDP said, "Linda McMahon presided over programming that showed simulated rape, public sex and necrophilia, and now she wants to be our U.S. Senator? People across this state, not to mention the millions of women who are the victims of sexual violence every year, would be horrified and embarrassed to know that the person who seeks to represent them condones this kind of behavior. That kind of programming has no place in our society, and Linda McMahon has no place in the U.S. Senate."

WWE spokesman Ed Patru responded that the scenes were from a different era when WWE produced TV-14 programming. He added that "every American" understands the difference between scripted TV and real-life issues.

"With 15 million Americans out of work and a jobless rate in Connecticut approaching 10 percent, people want a Senator who knows how to fix the economy and put people back to work," he said. "It's stunning that Chris Dodd's supporters are more concerned with PG TV programming than job creation."

Linda McMahon hopes to win the Republican nomination in 2010 to challenge current Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd in next year's election.

Caldwell's Analysis: No surprise that the opposition is trying to minimize Linda McMahon's Senate bid by drawing attention to the bad, ugly, and really ugly TV programming decisions from the past three decades she was with the company. McMahon doesn't have a political record that opponents can point to, so opponents are going to take the easy route of attacking her on past indiscretions in WWE. It will be interesting to see whether this affects her campaign and how much more anti-WWE rhetoric is to come when the five Republicans in the race try to minimize their opponents to jockey for position and votes.
