WWE News: WWE TV programming pulled from key international market this weekend Jul 4, 2009 - 1:29:22 AM
WWE Raw TV did not air in its regular timeslot in Italy on Friday night without any explanation from WWE's TV partner, Sky Italia. Italy is one of WWE's key European markets, especially for merchandising and licensing revenue.
WWE's other weekend programming - ECW TV at midnight on Saturday and Smackdown on Saturday afternoons - was reportedly pulled from the Sky line-up as well.
The sudden line-up changes prompted speculation that WWE programming was pulled from Sky Italia. Torch reader Erik Ganzerli writes: "All the weekend timeslots ... are now gone, leaving tons of fans unhappy and angry with lots of fans sending angry e-mails to the network and to WWE."
WWE typically tours Italy during its bi-yearly European tours, but WWE does not have a scheduled event in November during its European tour. The tour currently includes dates in the U.K., Germany, and Ireland.
