WWE News: JBL talks candidly about wrestling too long in WWE; on the cover of bodybuilding magazine Jul 2, 2009 - 1:29:01 PM
Former WWE wrestler JBL says he wrestled too long and should have listened to his body, which was telling him to quit before he officially retired at WrestleMania 25 in April.
"I wrestled too long. My body told me I should have quit maybe year ago," JBL told Muscle & Body Magazine. "I was glad that I got out before most of the fans realized that I was past my prime."
JBL is on the cover of the latest edition of Muscle & Body Magazine with Torrie Wilson to promote JBL's recent 90-pound weight loss and his product line of energy drinks. The magazine also interviewed him for a feature article in the issue.
Before retiring from wrestling, JBL started working at an investment bank in New York City. JBL says he was viewed like a character from the Beverly Hillbillies sticking out like a sore thumb, but it helped him exceed low expectations.
"I think they took the fact that I was this big tall wrestler and this Southern guy wearing cowboy boots and figured that I was probably pretty ignorant," JBL said. "So I had low expectations, which are pretty easy to exceed."
