WWE star Jeff Hardy reportedly suffered a severe cut below his right eye during the Smackdown taping in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. During the actual Smackdown broadcast on Friday night, WWE announcers did not draw attention to the cut, as it did not relate to the ongoing storyline involving Hardy and World Hvt. champion Edge.

In the final segment of the show, Jeff Hardy ran down the entranceramp to make the save for Rey Mysterio, who was being attacked by Chris Jericho. As Hardy was making the save, he over-shot Jericho and smashed his face into the cameraman shooting the action ringside.

Medics came down to ringside to check on Rey for storyline purposes, but Torch readers report that medics ended up checking on Jeff, who was bleeding severely below his right eye.

WWE medics reportedly needed ten minutes to attend to Hardy during the "commercial break" to stop the bleeding and set up the main event handicap match. Edge reportedly cut an extended promo for the live audience in Los Angeles while Hardy was attended to.

The announcers did not acknowledge Hardy's sudden cut, as the focus was on the Hardy-Edge match-up for the Extreme Rules PPV. However, at the end of the segment, referee Scott Armstrong can be seen pulling out protective gloves to examine Hardy's cut after Edge slammed Hardy into a ladder.

The show concludes with a close-up of Hardy's damaged right eye and medics checking on the cut, which appeared to re-open during the main event handicap match.

After the live-to-tape portion of the taping ended, the advertised dark match for the Los Angeles crowd was Edge vs. Hardy. Edge called for the cage to be lowered, then he quickly pinned Hardy so he could receive further medical attention.

"I was second row floor camera side and it was not a pleasant sight," said one Torch reader.
