WWE champion Randy Orton addressed criticism of his WrestleMania 25 main event match against Triple H last month by saying they were booked into a corner and "screwed" once it was their turn to wrestle on the PPV.

Orton acknowledged the general criticism of the match, saying they were restricted on what they could do in the match, had to follow action-packed matches that zapped the crowd of its energy, and the pre-match TV build-up did not match their standard one-on-one match. Despite the criticism and concerns over the match, Orton says was still pleased with the match.

"I was happy with the match. I really was. The crowd in the arena had seen three and half hours of wrestling and, not only that, they had seen some very good wrestling," Orton told Simon Rothstein of the U.K. Sun. "Then you have this match with two guys who can't be outside of the ring for more than ten seconds, you kinda screw yourself."

Orton also discussed the problem of the TV build-up being so non-traditional with the home invasion and McMahon family drama that the audience was expecting a wrestling match that followed the zany storylines.

"I think when all that happens and then you have this match where he can't be disqualified or he loses the title, you kind of screw yourself," Orton said. "Matt and Jeff Hardy had a hardcore no-holds-barred match. They were able to use all the bells and whistles to beat the hell out of each other. Everyone was expecting Triple H and me to do the same, but we had rules that put a fence around everything we were able to do. We weren't able to go to the extreme. If anything hurt us, it was that."
