WWE News: Summary of 1/12 WWE Raw - Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena classic, notes for next week, HIGH/LOW Points Jan 12, 2009 - 10:19:56 PM
-- High Point: Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena. What an epic TV match with WWE effectively playing up so many different elements of the Cena-Michaels-JBL program. Michaels was superb. Cena had this different "heel" vibe to him. JBL was great in his subtle reactions and not over-playing the heel manager card. Just another great match in the HBK vs. Cena series. They bring out the best in each other.
-- Low Point: Really, nothing stands out as being a major low point from the show. The Punk vs. Regal finish sucked for the second straight week, but they made amends by booking a re-match next week with a No DQ stipulation.
-- Steve Austin was officially announced as the first WWE Hall of Fame inductee for the 2009 class at WrestleMania 25 in Houston. WWE aired a lengthy video package to preview the announcement.
-- Video packages on Vince McMahon aired throughout the show to hype his return as on-air authority figure, perhaps, on next week's show.
-- Chris Jericho was storyline-fired by Stephanie McMahon in the opening segment, which led to multiple segments throughout the show playing into WWE's legit firing spree at WWE headquarters last Friday.
-- Matches announced for next week: Rey Mysterio vs. Mike Knox and William Regal vs. C.M. Punk in a No DQ match for the Intercontinental Title.
