WWE News: Summary of 1/5 WWE Raw - Vince McMahon's return date, WrestleMania 23 main event scheduled, HIGH/LOW Points Jan 5, 2009 - 10:33:36 PM
-- High Point: Shawn Michaels's storytelling throughout the January 5 WWE Raw, especially in the main event. Michaels effectively build up the tension teaming with John Cena against Randy Orton & Chris Jericho by teasing whether he would turn on Cena or be the old HBK.
-- Low Point: The first WWE Title match of the year ending in a DQ when C.M. Punk defeated William Regal in four minutes. Not a good start for the IC Title belt's resurgence or title matches in 2009.
-- In the main event of tonight's Raw, World Hvt. champion John Cena & Shawn Michaels beat Chris Jericho & Randy Orton when Michaels pinned Jericho following sweet chin music. JBL then announced that Cena will face Shawn Michaels on next week's show in a re-match from the WrestleMania 23 main event.
-- Other matches announced for next week's show include Kane vs. Randy Orton and a re-match for the Intercontinental Title when William Regal defends against Punk. If Regal is DQ'ed, then Punk wins the IC Title.
-- Chris Jericho told Stephanie McMahon that Vince McMahon will be returning to Raw in two weeks on the Jan. 19 show. Vince will be returning "after the accident," which was when the McMoney Mania $1.0 million giveaway TV set collapsed on McMahon several months ago.
