WWE News: Trish Stratus comments on returning to WWE, says which Divas she would like to wrestle against Dec 13, 2008 - 5:08:54 PM
Trish Stratus re-entered the WWE spectrum two weeks ago with an interview on WWE's website addressing Smackdown diva Natalya and Raw's Women's champion Beth Phoenix.
After Natalya responded in kind online, there appears to be an angle in place for Trish Stratus to return for a one-off appearance or a mini-feud against two of the top heel divas on the WWE roster.
Stratus won't give away whether she will be appearing at the Armageddon PPV on Sunday or the Raw in Toronto next week, but she knows she would want to work with Beth and/or Natalya if she returned.
Asked which divas stand out to her in WWE, Stratus told the "Pain Clinic" radio show, "Definitely Beth and Natalya." She continued: "To me, they represent 'back in the day' when there was a certain something Jazz, Victoria, and Molly had where we trying to re-educate the fans."
Stratus said she retired from wrestling when she felt she had gone through all potential opponents, but has left the door open for any newer divas who come on the scene.
"I see that with those two," she said. "They definitely are the kind of people I say 'yeah,' I want to work with (them)."
Stratus played coy when reminded that Buffalo - the site of tomorrow night's PPV - is a mere one-and-a-hour drive from her home in Toronto so as not to reveal a potential surprise or simply throw out a red herring for a potential return.
As for the Toronto Raw, which Jim Ross hinted at a return for Stratus earlier this week, Stratus said she "most likely" will be backstage, but she can't confirm whether she will make a TV appearance.
"He's just saying he will probably see me backstage around in Toronto," Stratus said. "More than likely, yes, that will happen. Outside of backstage, I don't know. I can neither confirm nor deny that. But, yes, I will probably be wandering around backstage."
Stratus added that she's a fan of TNA's Knockouts division, especially with the Canadian influence from Angelina Love. "I think the girls in TNA are doing a great job," she said. "Certainly I enjoy watching the booking of the girls in TNA."
FYI: A second season of her "Stratusphere" travel show that aired in Canada has not been confirmed yet, but episodes from season one will be appearing on U.S. TV soon. Stratus said she is negotiating a season after getting through the details of international distribution. "Just building my brand," she said.
