WWE News: WWE stock price takes an absolute beating on Wednesday Nov 19, 2008 - 11:55:14 PM
WWE executives have to be sweating a little this week watching the WWE stock price tumble more and more each day. The stock market was roughed up severely on Wednesday, with a 5.0 percent loss, but that doesn't compare to what WWE went through.
The price dropped nearly 12 percent to $10.33 per share to re-establish a new 52-week low one day after creating a previous 52-week low. The price dropped steadily throughout the day, never increasing above the opening price of $11.71.
Looking at the overall market value of WWE, the value of WWE's stock dropped to $751.67 million from Tuesday's close of $858.53 million. The stock price dropped nearly 12 percent, but the value of the company dropped 12.5 percent.
WWE's stock price has not been this low since June 28, 2005 when it dipped to $10.02 per share.
Caldwell's Analysis: I was shocked when I came home tonight and pulled up the stock quote for WWE. Not even a positive article in Variety today could do anything to help the company fight against the current of negativity in the stock market right now. I highly doubt any WWE executives will be cashing in shares of WWE stock anytime soon. It's getting to the point where the stock price is below the discount price paid by most executives on the executive compensation plan.
