WWE News: Victoria speaks out about recent WWE releases to Burke, Dykstra, and Lena Nov 17, 2008 - 3:31:04 PM
Being on the road two or three days out of the week with colleagues, WWE wrestlers form a bond that keeps them going through injuries and time away from family. It's like running a marathon with a group of your closest friends to push each other not to give up before reaching the finish line.
That bond is strained when WWE releases wrestlers due to budget cuts or "creative having nothing" for a wrestler. Smackdown diva Victoria wrote about that on her WWE Universe blog following the releases of Kenny Dykstra, Lena Yada, and Elijah Burke last week.
"I spend more time with these people than I do my family," Victoria wrote. "It always makes me sad. Especially since we are spread out all over the country. So I go from seeing them several days a week, to maybe a couple times a year."
Victoria added that she's no longer surprised by the releases, as it seems to come with the territory lately. "The longer I'm in this business, this less of a surprise it is when a Superstar either is fired or quits," she said.
Caldwell's Analysis: You can usually count on Victoria for an honest assessment of life in WWE. She's actually one of the most-tenured wrestlers on the roster, and the most-tenured diva in WWE, so she's seen her fair share of colleagues come and go since she joined WWE in 2000. At some point, you become numb to the releases and just accept it as part of doing business, which is how Victoria is handling the difficult times right now.
