Ratings News: WWE Raw ratings recover from last week's 11 year September low, but it's still down from last year (w/Keller's Analysis) Sep 24, 2008 - 2:23:49 PM
Whew. WWE can relax to a certain degree as last week's dismal 2.6 rating - the lowest September rating for Raw in 11 years - was not the start of a new trend as the rating rebounded to a 3.1 this week.
Barely 3.1, though, as the first hour rating was a 3.01 and the second was a 3.09, averaging to a 3.05 (4,747,000 million viewers).
As usual, the audience was about two-thirds male (64 percent) with a median age of 35.
Keller's Analysis: The 3.05 rating is hardly anything to celebrate, and the fact that a rating that low brings a sense of relief is a sign of the times for WWE. Raw drew a 3.3 one year ago this week, so the dropoff isn't huge, but the range of ratings two years ago in September was 3.4-3.7. The Jets-Chargers game on ESPN drew an 8.9 rating (11,881,000 viewers). Last week's Cowboys-Eagles game drew an 11.6 rating (18,610,000 viewers), so Raw's rebound can be attributed to some MNF viewers returning to Raw. By the way, Monday Night Football has produced the four largest cable TV audiences of the year.
