Ratings News: Raw rating takes a bit hit just one week before Summerslam (w/Keller's Analysis) Aug 12, 2008 - 4:00:10 PM
The Aug. 11 edition of Raw drew a 3.1 rating, a ten percent drop from the 3.43 rating last week. Presumably the Olympics took a dent out of Raw's viewership. The first hour drew less than a 3.0 rating - a 2.98 - and the second hour drew a mere 3.18. They lost nearly 300,000 viewers compared to last week.
Keller's Analysis: Bad news just one week before Summerslam, but perhaps an argument can be made that among the 300,000 who tuned out compared to last week, they weren't the top candidates to buy Summerslam if they're easily drawn away from Raw to watch the Olympics. However, this is also the start of NFL competition on ESPN on Monday nights. That does tend to test the strength of the WWE viewer loyalty. If they're looking for a scapegoat, not sure who'd they blame since John Cena and Batista, two of the Golden Children, were featured at the start and end of the show in promiment long segments.
