Ratings News: ECW ratings hold steady, headlined with the Hardys, up against Major League Baseball All-Star Game (w/Keller's Analysis) Jul 16, 2008 - 5:51:52 PM
ECW ratings held steady despite competition from MLB's All-Star Game, drawing a 1.4 rating and 1.95 million viewers. That's the same rating as the week before and actually an extra 170,000 viewers (presumablyt last week's rating was rounded up to get to 1.4, and this week's rounded down).
The rating the last four weeks, beginning with this week, working backwards have been: 1.4., 1.4, 1.4, 1.2. The draft actually benefited ECW as the shake-up brought in some new viewers, and the loss of C.M. Punk didn't hurt.
Keller's Analysis: The Hardys uniting helped ECW hold serve. But remember, the McMahon family doesn't believe tag teams draw, rarely invests meaningful TV time in them, and often jobs their tag teams out on televison for no reason, sometimes in handicapped matches against one singles wrestler (**cough**tripleh**cough**). It's one of WWE's underutilized assets as they try to attract new viewers and find ways to utilize their talent roster including those who don't stand out as potential singles wrestler world champions some day.
