Ratings News: ECW ratings are in for the 100th Episode, and it's newsworthy May 7, 2008 - 4:33:00 PM
Last night's ECW on Sci-Fi show drew a mere 1.08 rating, among the lowest ratings ever in the 100 episodes of ECW. Total viewership was 1.5 million.
KELLER'S ANALYSIS TNA Impact is again within firing distance of beating ECW, which for them is worthy of bragging about - beating another WWE show in prime time. This weak rating is a reflection of perhaps a rebellion against Mike Adamle (ECW fans are not feeling amused by the joke), perhaps Kane as champion (an old school lumbering WWE brawler headlining a brand that has shined when it's been about tomorrow, not yesterday), and perhaps the treatment of the ECW wrestlers on Raw as needing a 14 on 2 advantage to have a chance against two top Raw stars. If this causes a shift in direction for the brand to something distinguishably different, not just "inferior," from Raw and Smackdown, I'm all for it. Let's start with ending the Adamle experiment, which has been an embarrassment on several levels, and is getting worse as WWE tries to save face by making it seem like they were in on the joke from the beginning.
