WWE Raw HOLT report
August 20, 2007
Fayetteville, N.C. at the Crown Coliseum
Report by Shawn Cavender, PWTorch VIP member

The Crown Coliseum was close to a sell-out, with lots of kids in attendance.

DARK MATCH

(1) Johnny Jeter defeated Matt Anoai with a spinning leg lariat from the top turnbuckle. Anoai is the man formerly known as Rosey, and I didn't even recognize him because of how much slimmer he is compared to his last run in WWE. He looked like a totally different guy. I guess his participation in the show "Fat March" really did help him lose a lot of weight. He moved around pretty well.

HEAT TAPING

(1) Val Venis defeated Charlie Haas after the Money Shot.

(2) The Highlanders (Rory & Robbie McAallister) beat Brad Allen & ?? with a double-team slingshot suplex.

(3) Super Crazy beat Jay Bradley after a moonsault.

(4) Daivari defeated "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan with a roll-up and a handful of tights.

RAW NOTES

The Fayetteville crowd was overwhelmingly pro-Cena, nowhere near the mixed reception from last week's MSG crowd.

Most of the crowd bought King Booker's claim that the real Triple H would be coming out, and popped huge when Triple H's music hit. Even though I didn't expect the real deal to show up, I was still disappointed because I was hoping for a midget Triple H to come out instead.

Cryme Tyme were very over with the Fayetteville crowd, getting a huge pop when they ran out during the Cade & Murdoch vs. London & Kendrick match.

Carlito vs. Kennedy for the IC Title shot killed the crowd. Neither guy did anything interesting until the last couple minutes of the match, and since both are heels the crowd didn't get behind either guy. At about the ten minute mark a fairly loud "this is boring" chant started. The draw finish got a negative reaction, too.

POST-RAW DARK MATCH

(1) John Cena defeated Randy Orton to retain the WWE Championship. After Raw went off the air, William Regal came out and announced that we wouldn't have to wait until Summerslam to see Orton get a shot at the WWE title, we'd see it tonight. Crowd popped huge, and we were treated to a five minute title match that Cena won with an FU. The pro-Cena crowd left very happy.

I didn't expect to enjoy this edition of Raw much because I don't think the show has been very good the last couple of months, but I had a fun time and I think the rest of the people in attendance did as well.

BIGGEST POPS
(1) John Cena
(2) fake Triple H
(3) Cryme Tyme

BIGGEST HEAT
(1) Randy Orton
(2) King Booker
(3) Daivari

QUICK TIPS FOR SENDING RESULTS

If you attend an arena event in future, either house shows or TV tapings, we encourage you to send us a report for publication. You can direct your reports to "matchresults07" (@pwtorch. com).

We accept reports in any format, but if it's not much trouble, please format your report like you see above, with the matches numbered like this (1) , (2) , (3) , with the opening line of each match paragraph stating who beat whom (don't just say Wrestler A vs. Wrestler beat with the result listed later; instead, state up front who won so those readers who don't have time to read the entire report (i. e. their boss walks past their cubicle all the time looking beat their shoulder) can at least quickly assess the results.

Also, please list tag teams using the "&" symbol as opposed to stating "and. " Reserve use of " and" when listing results in a three-way or four-way match where there are no teams (i. e. " Wrestler A beat Wrestler B and Wrestler C in a three-way match" ) so it is easy to differentiate a handicap match from a three-way match.

If you know HTML coding for bolding, you can also bold out the first line of each match description. If you don't know HTML symbols, then we can add those ourselves.

Special thanks to everyone who helps us with reports on live events!
