Williams Wins UWF Hvt. Title
Torch Newsletter #126
June 1991
By Wade Keller, PWTorch editor
Palmetto, Fla.: Headlining the UWF's initial pay-per-view event on June 9, Steve Williams pinned Bam Bam Bigelow cleanly in the middle of the ring after an Oklahoma Stampede at 7:11 to win the UWF SportsChannel TV Hvt. Title.
The three-star bout saw both men bleed as they brawled and exchanged power moves nonstop for the entire main event.
The UWF PPV show, although it is believed to have done terribly low business due to low availability, was considered a successful show product-wise. The eight-match, two-hour show was full of solid action, with a variety of talent and styles, from Bob Backlund pinning Ivan Koloff to Paul Orndorff pinning Col. DeBeers.
The availability of the show on PPV was very limited, so the money generated from Abrams's first PPV effort will be minimal. (2014 note: Abrams had a second PPV lined up for September, but it did not materialize.)
