Date: August 7, 2003 (10 years ago)

Feature: WWE Smackdown ten years ago today featured a teased steel cage match between Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar that was halted when Lesnar turned heel to align with McMahon. Also, John Cena and The Undertaker faced off in a singles match.

WWE Smackdown Results
August 7, 2003


(1) Eddie Guerrero fought Chris Benoit to a no contest at 6:50.

(2) Chris Benoit & Tajiri beat Rhyno & Eddie Guerrero at 7:45... Josh Mathews interviewed Kurt Angle, who denied any relationship with Vince McMahon.

(3) Nunzio pinned Zach Gowen at 3:57. Matt Hardy and Shannon Moore did commentary during the match. Matt took a cheapshot at Zach afterward... Undertaker walked in on Vince making out with Sable. Taker said sending A-Train to attack his daughter at the PPV was as low as one can go. Funaki interrupted and told Vince to come see Brock Lesnar, who was beat up backstage. Angle was standing over Brock as he was tended to by medics.

(4) John Cena pinned Undertaker at 19:55 after A-Train interfered.

(5) Jamie Noble (w/Nidia) beat Doug Basham (w/Shaniqua, Danny Basham) at 4:50 after which Billy Gunn ran out and helped Noble clear the ring of the Bashams. ... Angle told Vince he had nothing to do with attacking Lesnar.

(6) Charlie Haas (w/Shelton Benjamin) beat Rey Mysterio via submission. Angle left Vince's office. Cole and Tazz sounded suspicious.

(7) Brock Lesnar vs. Vince McMahon in a cage never really began as Lesnar attacked Angle to turn heel and reveal his secret alliance with Vince.
