CALDWELL'S MEDIA CLUB: Introducing the Eddie Guerrero DVD 25-day Challenge Nov 13, 2008 - 7:52:24 PM
On Tuesday, WWE released the "Eddie Guerrero: Viva La Raza" DVD with 25 of the most-important Eddie Guerrero matches from his career in ECW, WCW, and WWE. Eddie's legacy is innovation as a cruiserweight and also bringing into question the physical demands for pro wrestlers in the wrestling industry.
Over the next 25 days, starting on Friday, I'll go match-by-match through the 25 matches on the Guerrero DVD with a look at the significance of each match, establish the context at the time with the help of Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletters from the 1990s through this current era to capture the essence of the time frame, and also analyze the commentary provided by the likes of Chavo Guerrero, Vickie Guerrero, JBL, and other former colleagues that is included on the DVD.
I'll look at the changes and challenges that Guerrero faced throughout his career going back to ECW in 1995 when he was a cruiserweight looking for a break on the national scene until his rise to becoming World Hvt. champion on the Smackdown brand when he defeated this week's hot topic person in the news, Brock Lesnar, for his first World Title.
Guerrero captured an entire era himself, and I'll look at the significance of his contributions as well as his lasting legacy through WWE's implementation of the Wellness Policy to attempt to monitor and protect pro wrestler's health going forward.
If you have a copy of the DVD, you can follow along on the 25-day series as I take a closer, more in-depth look into each of the matches that defined Guerrero's career, according to WWE. Be sure to back every afternoon around 4:00 p.m. EST over the next 25 days for the latest installment of the Eddie Guerrero DVD series.
