On September 12, 1999, Sting beat Hulk Hogan for the WCW Hvt. Title at Fall Brawl '99, setting up Sting's final WCW Title run.
Sting was stripped of the WCW Title less than two months later and he never won the title back. This despite the WCW Title changing hands so many times from the end of 1999 until the beginning of 2001 that Booker T and Jeff Jarrett each had four title reigns and Kevin Nash had three title reigns during that span.

The show opened with a solid video montage with the theme of "Who can you trust?"... Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay, and Bobby Heenan introduced the event...
(1) Kidman & Rey Mysterio Jr. & Eddie Guerrero beat Insane Clown Posse & Vampiro when Kidman pinned Vampiro at 14:10.
(2) Lenny Lane (w/Lodi) pinned Kaz Hayashi at 12:09 to retain the WCW Cruiserweight Title. Lenny won with the full–nelson front–face slam.
Gene Okerlund interviewed Sting in mid–ring. It was Sting's usual start–stop, meandering, nonchalant interview style, but his demeanor seemed to foreshadow his heel turn later He talked about whether he could trust Luger or Hogan.
(3) Hugh Morrus & Brian Knobs (w/Jimmy Hart) beat Dean Malenko & Shane Douglas when Malenko pinned Knobs at 9:20 in a no DQ match.
(4) Rick Steiner pinned Saturn at 9:25 to retain the WCW TV Title.
Okerlund interviewed Hogan backstage, who said he swore to his kid he would not stab Sting in the back.
(5) Berlyn pinned Hacksaw Duggan at 7:56.
(6) Harlem Heat beat Barry & Kendall Windham (w/Curt Hennig) to capture the WCW Tag Titles for the ninth time when Booker T pinned Kendall at 13:02. Booker surprised Kendall with a top rope Missile Dropkick leading to the pin.
(7) Sid pinned Chris Benoit at 11:44 to capture the U.S. Hvt. Title. Benoit carried his end of the match just fine. There were a few good spots to save it from being a dud.
(8) Goldberg pinned Dallas Page at 9:04. Page, who had been distracting the referee, turned around only to be met by a Goldberg spear. Goldberg followed with a Jackhammer and the pin. Good match, but not anywhere near the level of their match at Halloween Havoc last year.
(9) Sting pinned Hulk Hogan at 13:54 to capture the WCW Hvt. Title. After ring introductions for Sting and Hogan, Bret Hart came out. Michael Buffer got his name right this time. Bret made sure both Sting and Hogan knew he wanted a title shot against the winner. Bret and Hogan seemed especially chummy. Tempers flared early when Hogan claimed Sting didn't break when the ref called for it. When Hogan tried to poke Sting in the chest, Sting slapped his hand away. At 6:00 they fought at ringside, but they spent more time arbitrarily walking around ringside between moves, and arbitrarily changing who was on offense without any transitions. At 8:00 they returned to the ring where Hogan eventually applied an abdominal stretch. Sting came back at 11:00 and hit two Stinger Splashes. Hogan moved out of the path of Sting's third splash. He began his Superman comeback and gave Sting a big boot (that showed light). Page then came to the ring and hit the ref from behind. Hogan legdropped and covered Sting. Page gave Hogan a Diamond Cutter. He draped Sting over Hogan. The ref counted to two before Hogan lifted his shoulder. Page gave the ref another Diamond Cutter. Bret ran to the ring and dragged out Page. Sid ran out. Hogan gave him a big boot. Lex Luger ran out. Hogan gave him a big boot (which showed light). Sting entered the ring with a baseball bat. Hogan told him, "I told you Luger was the one." Sting jabbed Hogan in the stomach with the bat, then threw it to Lex. Lex nailed Bret. Sting applied the Scorpion and ref Charles Robinson came out and replaced the fallen Nick Patrik, checked on Hogan, and called for the bell. The crowd popped for Sting turning on Hogan and winning the match. The match told a decent story and was watchable, but had the fatal flaws of Hogan matches in that his offense lacked any authority. Sting was along for the ride and didn't do enough to elevate the match.
