NWA-TNA PPV FLASHBACK
ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED: PWTORCH NEWSLETTER #761
MAY 28, 2003
LIVE FROM NASHVILLE, TENN.
REPORT BY WADE KELLER, PWTORCH EDITOR

A recap aired of last week's Angles with Raven. Then the TNA opening montage aired... Glenn Gilberti told Julio Deniro and Destiny that he is going to kick Raven's ass on his own with any help. He told them to tell Raven...

(1) D-Lo Brown & A.J. Styles beat C.M. Punk & Jason Cross at 4:20. About as good as a hot four minute opening tag match can get. Styles and Cross stood out as the best in the match. (**1/2)

After the match, D-Lo said he came to TNA with one goal - to get respect. He said he wants to become NWA Champion. He and Styles agreed to break up their team and go after the singles belt. D-Lo called C.M. Punk and Jason Cross "jobbers," which was inappropriate given how much better they've been in the ring than him lately.

They went to a video diary of Jeff Jarrett on tour with the WWA with brief shots of him in the ring with Sting. They briefly plugged the WWA PPV U.S. airing on June 8. Jarrett talked about the great responsibility of defending the NWA Title worldwide. A graphic then plugged Jarrett vs. Gilberti for the June 4 show.

Jeff Jarrett came out for a live in-ring interview. The hometown crowd, which has turned on Jarrett, taunted him to no end. He made reference to Raven "shooting his crap up." Raven came out and said Jarrett has no right ripping on people for feeling excluded or cheated since he's had more connections in his career than anyone but Shane and Stephanie McMahon. He said he was going to make his life a nightmare. Jarrett said he only understood half of what Raven said. They agreed to wrestle sometime soon. Jarrett was then handed an envelope that said he had been banned from the arena.

In the SEX locker room, Gilberti was pacing around and giving orders with Mike Sanders nodding behind him. He told Sonny Siaki he was on his own tonight.

(2) B.G. James & Konnan beat Sandman & Sonny Siaki at 2:41. James's return means nothing when handled this way. He's the type of guy who you need to treat as a big deal based on his DX past and push to the top for a quick title shot or not use at all, because he doesn't do anyone any good exposing his weaknesses in mid-card throwaway bouts. (1/2*)

Backstage Goldy interviewed New Jack. Shark Boy taunted New Jack with the box for Chutes and Ladders.

(3) New Jack beat Slash at 7:15. Good energy, but usual seen-it-before trash can lid style brawl. (*)

They aired a sitdown interview with Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper, who bragged about being the best tag team today. Daniels said by embracing SEX, they've made it to the top. He said if they hadn't embraced SEX, they'd still be a foot stool for Jarrett.

The Harrises were in the parking lot drinking Budweissers (Bud should pay TNA to have the Harrises not drink their beer on air). Konnan and Ron Killings attacked them.

Goldy interviewed the SATs. Erik Watts then talked Goldy into walking away with her to make out.

(4) Elix Skipper & Christopher Daniels beat The SAT at 6:20 of a non-title match. (**1/4)

Afterward, Raven gave the SAT DDT's in the ring. Tenay said that was a message to Amazing Red.

They went back to the SEX locker room where Tracy and Desire had a cat fight. David Young gave Tracy a spinebuster in the ring... Goldy and Watts were shown making out backstage. Point, please?... A woman seduced and then low-blowed Kid Kash backstage...

(3) The Masked Luchador beat Kid Kash at 2:31. The Luchador turned out to be Trinity this week. Kash told Trinity afterward he was going to kill her. (1/2*)

Backstage Jarrett said he wasn't going to leave the building as ordered... Gilberti told Chris Harris he could team with Chris Sabin since James Storm wasn't there.

(6) Chris Sabin & Chris Harris beat Jerry Lynn & Justin Credible at 9:02. (**1/2)

Erik Watts tried to interview Raven backstage...

(7) Glenn Gilberti beat Raven at 15:51. It ended when Vince Russo made his return to TV by hitting Raven with a baseball bat. Good match, but it needed to be better to build Gilberti's credibility. (**3/4)
