The AWA held Super Clash IV on this day 25 years ago featuring 2015 WWE Hall of Famer Larry Zbyszko capturing the AWA Title. The 2,000 in attendance at the St. Paul Civic Center were not thinking about this at the time, but Zbyszko ended up being the last officially recognized AWA champion.

There were certainly questions about the AWA's future at the start of a new decade. PWTorch editor Wade Keller wrote about the big question marks in his cover story from PWTorch Newsletter #67 covering Super Clash IV.

But, 1990 was the AWA's last full year of business, fading out until running a few shows in 1991 to officially end the promotion that dated back to the 1960s.

(5) John Nord beat Kokina Maximus at 12:06 in a Lumberjack match. (Grade: C)

(6) Larry Zbyszko beat AWA champion Masamori Saito at 16:01 to regain the AWA Hvt. Title. Nick Bockwinkel was special referee after being introduced with other wrestling celebrities, including Verne Gagne and Riki Choshu. (Grade: A-)

(7) "Hardrock" Paul Diamond & The Trooper beat The Destruction Crew (Wayne Bloom & "Mean" Mike Enos) at 9:45 in a cage match. (Grade: B)

They announced a return date of May 5 with Ric Flair, Brian Pillman, Tully Blanchard, Larry Zbyszko, and Big Van Vader, which was part of a co-promoted show with the NWA.
