WWE star Paul Heyman is delivering arguably the best work of his career on WWE television. 20 years ago, though, Heyman did not even want to perform on the air again following a major falling-out with WCW in early 1993.

In an exclusive PWTorch Interview 20 years ago this week, Heyman talked about his involvement in a new promotion at the time, World Wrestling Network (WWN), and what his role would be.

TORCH #234: COVER STORY EXCERPT: Heyman says he will be color commentator for the promotion only because he believes he will be able to explain what's happening better than anyone since he will be booking it, but he has no plans to be a manager or otherwise a performer.

"I really don't want to perform anymore," Heyman told PWTorch editor Wade Keller. "This overseas trip (post-WCW) confirmed that for me. I love to organize things. I had fun at ringside, but I'd rather work behind the scenes. It's almost orgasmic for me right now, what I'm doing with this promotion.

"I didn't knock someone out of their position for this job, I didn't get it because of a friendship or politics. I got this job because I worked hard and someone (WWN president Jim Hudson) had faith in me. I'll be damned if I'll let him down."
