WCW NITRO REPORT
FEBRUARY 22, 1999
LIVE FROM SACRAMENTO, CALIF.

[Q1: 4.7]... Still shots aired from SuperBrawl of Hollywood Hogan beating Ric Flair... Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay, and Larry Zbyszko introduced the show... A shot aired of former MTV vee-jay Ricky Rachtman hosting a Nitro party at Cal. State Berkley... A portion of Konnan's new music video aired featuring a mask-less Rey Misterio Jr... The Nitro Girls danced in the ring... Still shots aired from the PPV of Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Goldberg... (1) Jerry Flynn beat Mike Enos by submission at 4:16... A pre-taped clip aired of David Flair cuddling on a couch with Torrie Wilson. She told him how proud she was of him. He said he had to do it because it is his time to shine...

[Qii: 4.9]... Gene Okerlund interviewed Booker T in the locker room area. He pushed his number one contender's match (for the U.S. Title) vs. Bret Hart for later in the show... Another Ricky Rachtman Nitro Party spot aired... In the locker room, Vince tried to take charge of the NWO Black and White and told Scott Norton that he'd been put in control. Norton blew him off but let him think he was in charge... A clip aired of Wrath's appearance on the Mortal Combat TV show... A highlight package aired of the Scott Steiner-Dallas Page feud featuring Steiner's lawyer reading the statement that claimed Page faced up to a 15 year sentence and a one million dollar fine for harassing Steiner... Schiavone said that the stipulation Steiner tried to add for Page losing Kimberly for thirty days wasn't agreed upon because Page wouldn't put his wife on the line...

[Qiii: 5.3]... (2) Bam Bam Bigelow beat Van Hammer at 8:59. During Bigelow's entrance, the crowd chanted "Goldberg" at him. The match went on for what seemed like forever. In the end, Bigelow hit Greetings from Asbury Park for the win...

[Qiiii: 5.4]... A video piece aired featuring Steiner & Buff Bagwell's travels on the Spring Breakout tour bus. They went to a gym, worked out, and flirted with women. They went to a bar to meet up with a girl they met, but ended up at a drag bar. At another unidentified site, Steiner wandered into a Goldberg photo shoot. He asked Steiner if he saw what he did to Page and told him he's next. Goldberg told the photographer that Steiner has a big mouth and one day he'd close it... (3) Booker T beat Bret Hart in a number one contender's match for the U.S. Title at 17:44. Later, cameras cut to the production truck where Disco Inferno was harassing a crew member about finding out different frequencies so the NWO could pirate the signal. The crew member objected, but Disco promised they'd triple his 500 dollar a day wage and he agreed. Back in the ring, Bret dominated the action as the segment continued into the next hour.

[Q1: 4.3]... Schiavone left the booth to check on the lighting and other things for the Ric and David Flair interview segment. Late in the match, Bret locked Booker in the Sharpshooter, but Booker got to the ropes. Bret attempted a sunset flip, but Booker fell down on him and got the pin. A long, but good match... A shot aired of Schiavone sitting on a couch as the crew set up a room for the Flair interview. A crew member asked, "Do you have Kevin's mic?" giving away that Nash would have a spot in the segment...

[Q2: 4.4]... Still shots aired from SuperBrawl of the Misterio & Konnan vs. The Outsiders match, plus a shot of Misterio without the mask... (4) Disco Inferno beat Kaz Hayashi with the Chartbuster at 6:01. Schiavone returned to the announcers' desk. Kaz came to the ring wearing the outfit he bought from Glacier. Before the match, Disco had David Penzer ask the crowd to stand so he could sing the national anthem before his "international" match. Disco made it half-way through the anthem, but the mic cut out on him. Funny... Brian Adams confronted Norton in the back and informed him that while he was away, Hogan had put him (Adams) in charge of the B&W. He said Hogan hadn't said it, but he thought eventually he'd be placed in charge of the Wolfpac...

[Q3: 4.3]... Rachtman hosted another Nitro party segment. While he was hyping the event, the Nitro Girls held a limbo contest. As one of the party goers went under the bar, he did the DX chop... Steiner & Bagwell came to the ring for a promo. Steiner found the woman who came to the ring with him at SuperBrawl sitting in the front row. He picked her up and brought her into the ring with him. Steiner bragged about hurting his brother and Page. He said if he could find Sting he'd hurt him too, but claimed that Goldberg is next on his list. He vowed to take care of him later in the show. During the promo, censors edited out the word hoochie. Bobby Heenan took over for Zbyzsko on commentary...

[Q4: 4.6]... (5) Hugh Morrus beat Chris Jericho (w/Ralphus) when Saturn interfered at 6:56. Ralphus came to the ring wearing a new blue dress that is an even funnier sight than the pink dress he had been wearing. Whenever a shot aired of him, Schiavone legitimately had a hard time calling the match because he was laughing so hard. Saturn came to the ring and tore the dress off of Ralphus, stripping him down to his boxer shorts. He climbed into the ring and Hart offered him a chair to use on Jericho but Saturn punched him. Then he grabbed Jericho and gave him the DVD, allowing Morrus to hit the No Laughing Matter and get the win. After the match, Morrus and Saturn brawled and had to be pulled apart by several referees... A tape aired of Curt Hennig & Barry Windham celebrating their capturing the WCW Tag Titles after SuperBrawl. Dean Malenko & Chris Benoit interrupted and choked them with belts...

[Q5: 4.9]... Nash, Lex Luger, and Elizabeth came to the ring for a promo. Nash said that he felt bad about Hall "taking a couple of short-cuts" during the tag match at the PPV. He called out Misterio in order to give him his mask back. Misterio came to the ring wearing white camouflage from head to toe. He told Nash to keep the mask and challenged him to a match... (6) Rey Misterio Jr. beat Kevin Nash at 2:38. Misterio dominated the first minute of the match and hit Nash with the Bronco Buster in the corner. The crowd popped for every Misterio offensive move. Nash came back and eventually lifted up Misterio for the Jacknife, but Misterio turned it into a Frankensteiner and scored the upset (payback for losing the mask) win. A big pop for the surprise finish... The newest Konnan music video aired...

[Q6: 4.8]... In the back, Horace informed Norton that Hogan placed him (Horace) in charge of the B&W... Gene Okerlund interviewed Barry Windham & Curt Hennig in the ring. Bad interview... In the back, Norton approached Hogan and asked him who the leader of the B&W is. Hogan told him he'd been looking for the right person to take the job and told Norton he was his choice... (7) Scott Norton beat Ernest Miller (w/Sonny Onno) at 1:35. Before the match, Miller came to the ring to Glacier's old light show complete with the snow machine. Once in the ring, he grabbed the mic and started his rant. Meanwhile, cameras cut to the B&W dressing room where Norton was about to confront the rest of the crew about his meeting with Hogan. Disco was watching a monitor and cut off Norton to inform him Miller had challenged him to a match. Norton got angry and went to the ring. The match was a complete squash...

[Q7: 4.9]... (8) Goldberg beat Scott Steiner (w/Buff Bagwell) by DQ at 7:45. Michael Buffer served as the ring announcer for the match. On his way to the ring, Scott grabbed a camera from what appeared to be a planted photographer and threw it to the ground. In the ring, Scott began challenging fans to wrestle him, but Goldberg's music cut him off. Buffer got a mic and did his ring intro. He actually mentioned the height of both wrestlers, calling Steiner 6'3 and Goldberg 6'4. The match began and both men traded offense. Goldberg press slammed Scott and the show went to break.

[Q8: 4.5]... After break, Scott whipped Goldberg into the ropes. Goldberg held his head too low and it actually went under the top rope and when he bounced off he ended up embarrassingly choking himself. Later, Buff came into the ring and pulled out a pair of snips. He cut the pad off of the turnbuckle and Goldberg whipped Scott into the corner, but Buff thought it was Goldberg and pulled the pad away. Scott crashed into the exposed turnbuckle. Goldberg speared Buff, but Steiner pulled him out of the ring. Buff & Steiner started to leave ringside, but Rick Steiner ran out and hit them with a double clothesline. He ran into the ring and joined Goldberg. The B&W ran out and Vince instructed them to run in but ended up being the only one that entered the ring. Steiner hit him with a Steiner-line... A preview of the Nitro Girl's swimsuit video aired... A shot aired of Disco in the production truck... Schiavone stood in front of David Flair and Torrie sitting on the couch. Footage aired of Ric Flair's limo arriving, but the signal was interrupted and a parody aired of the situation.

[Q9: 3.8]... Disco Inferno played the role of Okerlund, Vince played the role of Mongo, Nash reprised his role of Arn, Hall played Piper, and Hogan played Flair. Hogan, playing Flair, claimed he went out on the town whenever his family wasn't around. The only entertaining performances were given by Nash and Disco. Not as funny as the original parody, but still mildly entertaining... [JP]
