In Brief: Randy Savage's last WCW toy was released in 2001, and fans had to wait a decade to get new figures of the "Macho Man."




Action Figure Evolution #6: "Macho Man" Randy Savage

(1) 1986 LJN WWF Wrestling Superstars Series 3. Savage’s earliest figure was released while he was in the midst of his year-plus reign as Intercontinental champion. The “Macho Man” figure is one of the most iconic of the LJN line, and is very easy to find today.

(2) 1990 Hasbro WWF Series 1. From 1990 to 1993, Hasbro produced several toys of Savage. Many present him as the “Macho King” or in colorful entrance gear that look more like the WWF commentator than the WWF wrestler. But the first “Macho Man” toy from Hasbro presents him how many fans most fondly remember him: long hair, sunglasses, and colorful trunks adorned with three stars on the front.

(3) 1999 Toy Biz WCW Smash ‘N Slam Two-Packs (with Elizabeth). Savage’s run as a prominent figure in WCW lasted roughly five years, but he has far more WCW toys than WWF. This is the only package that pairs Savage with longtime manager (and ex-wife) Elizabeth.

(4) 2011 Mattel WWE Legends Series 5. The last WCW “Macho Man” figure was released in 2001, and fans had to wait a full 10 years for a new one since Jakks-Pacific never produced a toy of Savage. Mattel finally gave collectors new “Macho Man” toys in 2011, including this Legends figure, which comes with a removable bandana, sunglasses, and classic purple t-shirt.

(5) 2012 Mattel WWE Elite Flashback Ringside Collectibles NWO Exclusive. Mattel made up for the drought of Savage toys by offering up a full serving of figures from different periods in the legendary career of the “Macho Man.” This figure, which presents Savage in the classic NWO black and white, is especially cool since it is the only non-WWF Savage toy Mattel has made so far.
