Instant Reaction - WWE Smackdown 7/29

I thought this week's Smackdown was pretty good, if not great. Several storylines were progressed fairly well, there was a pretty good match between Christian and Morrison, and Zack Ryder was back on TV! There were some dull moments, though. The Divas match was a clunker, the actual main event was dull, and the tag title match did nothing but hurt the Usos's momentum. Also, Ezekiel Jackson shouldn't be continuing to lose matches, as it's really starting to hurt his momentum, and the same goes for a returning John Morrison.

On with the highlights of the show starting with the Mark Henry squash. Everything from the jobber's entrance to the end with Sheamus was done flawlessly, and made both Sheamus and Mark Henry look like bad-asses. My only complaint is that I still think that it's too early to turn Sheamus face. He was one of WWE's stronger heels. I also enjoyed Triple H's opening segment, as it furthered the World Title situation and set up the rest of the show, even if it was a bit too comedic. Oh, and there was Zack Ryder! In all seriousness, Zack did do a pretty good job this week. Not only was he funny (take notes Eric Young), but he also was useful in setting up matches for the show and furthering storylines. Nice job there, even if I would rather see him get a solid in-ring push.

Despite some flaws, I thought tonight's show was pretty good. I wonder how much mileage they can get out of the Christian-Orton feud, though, because it's really starting to get old.
