ABSURDITY OF IT ALL - WWE NXT & Superstars: Carlito Kills Household Plants, Knox Needs Hogan, WWE Tries To Get Hip With NXT

By Shane McKinley, Torch specialist

-Did you y'all tune into WWE NXT, where they had that ground-breaking segment of wrestlers talking...in a locker room? It's hard not to feel somewhat disappointed that NXT is just a FCW show spruced up by some WWE superstars.

Me, I like to pretend that NXT is the "Bryan Danielson" show. The taped-up ribs was a bit cheesy and WWE giving a lame win to that British character was a bit sickening, but the short dude is the main reason why I am planning to catch future NXT episodes. The Miz-Danielson interaction felt organic.

It's easy to predict that Danielson and Otunga will jump up to the bigger shows, but which other wrestler so far has grabbed people's attention? Other questions pop up: Is the "Cornfed Meathead" perhaps the dullest stereotype people seen? How long will the current season be? Three months until they get new faces in there? How long should the NXT season be? Will they ever show wrestlers talking to each other...outside of the arena? Why do my plants wither and die when Carlito is on my television screen?

There were some interesting character developments...the guy with the weird hair perhaps joining SES, Otunga beefing with R-Truth, and Matt Hardy and the Adam Lambert lookalike eventually taking all of the girlfriends and wives in the arena.

-I'm waiting until WWE has to stop a match twice due to someone getting busted up. I wonder what the entertaining athletic performers feel about WWE's no-blood policy. Perhaps they are thinking they should head down to TN "We luv blood! Blood! Blood! " A.

-Fans can get sometimes get an impression how much WWE loves a particular wrestler. On Superstars, the announcers were pumping up Kofi as having a potentially bright future. For Evan Bourne, he was just some poor soap rag getting beat up by the evil William Regal. I have a feeling Evan Bourne is going to remain a "smiling, apple-pie eating, oh shucks choir boy" for the rest of his WWE career.

-Kane gets some WWE love by beating up Mike Knox. Poor Mike Knox. Come on down to TNA and maybe Hogan can give you his special red bandanna.

-The best days of Goldust wrestling are far behind, but it did make me smile that this cockroach (no matter what, you just can't get rid of him) got to wrestle World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho. Goldust is a recognizable character and the WWE crowd stills responds to him. A Goldust vs. Ezekiel Jackson feud on Smackdown sounds fine to get Jackson over.

-How amazing is Chris Jericho? He's on every damn wrestling show. I think I even saw him on Impact. How valuable is he to WWE right now?

-Too bad WWE screwed up Vince vs. Bret. Way too much showing of these guys, thus killing the allure of this feud. I would have thought, you know, they wouldn't screw up a storyline 12 years in the making.

That's it for me. Check out the Absurd TNA Impact coming up...
