SUPERSTARS HITS

Bellas vs. Jillian & Burchill: The Raw Divas continue to consistently have better matches on Superstars than Raw. That was the case where this 5 minute tag match was better than either of the 2 minute Divas Championship Tournament matches from Raw earlier this week. For me, this was the best that the Bella twins have looked in the ring as I have never been that impressed with them, but they looked good here. Katie Lea Burchill has skills in the ring and a presence to her that should be better utilized on Monday nights. The match was basic, but fun to watch and well executed. It wasn't as sloppy as some of the Divas matches have been lately.

Maters vs. Primo vs. Guerrero: I enjoyed this triple threat match. Chavo Guerrero and Primo were able to create enough movement and excitement to make up for the dull Chris Masters. Masters did do a good job in his role as the power to the other two's speed. There were some nice sequences like when Primo dove at Guerrero, only to have Guerrero move out of the way while Primo continued his dive onto Masters at ringside. The finishing sequence was also well done as Masters dumped Primo out of the ring while trying to lock in the Masterlock on Guerrero, only to have Guerrero counter the hold, with Masters then countering the counter to finally get the Masterlock on and get the win. I'm just hoping he doesn't last long in the Royal Rumble.

Jericho - Truth: This was a good segment. We don't get these types of talking segments on Superstars that often which is good. I like Superstars as a show to mostly showcase wrestling. However, every once in a while a segment like this can work. Part of why it worked was that it was well done. Chris Jericho was very good on the mic as usual. He did a nice job of bringing up some of the big name stars in this year's Rumble, and putting them down at the same time. I like R-Truth and like to see him getting mic time like this. He had a feud going with CM Punk not that long ago, but it just sort of fizzled. I don't think this will lead to a feud between him and Jericho, but probably a match on Smackdown which should be good. Using Superstars to set up a Smackdown match makes a lot of sense (assuming that it what they are doing).

SUPERSTARS MISSES

Rumble Spot on the Line: Every year it seems that WWE does something odd with how the Rumble participants are booked. Most years there are several qualifying matches, while several other wrestlers are just named to the Rumble. This triple threat on Superstars was the first Royal Rumble qualifier this year. With 27 of the 30 participants already announced, there probably won't be very many more on Smackdown. The problem here is that on a show where R-Truth announced he's in the Rumble while the Smackdown announcers casually announced that Matt Hardy is too, there was this random qualifier. How did the other 26 named wrestlers get into the match? Why does Raw have 15 superstars in the match, while so far Smackdown only has 7 (with the potential for only 10 total)? Who determines how many slots each brand gets? Without a GM, who determines which Raw stars get in? WWE never addressed these types of questions.
