ECW HITS

Ruthless Roundtable: A week after giving them a Miss, I am giving them a Hit, but that doesn't retroactively change my Miss from last week. This week felt like a good week #2 in a program leading to the eventual break up of the Ruthless Roundtable. The problem remains that last week was more of week #4, and not #1. I also still feel this is too early in the faction's existence to go that route. That being said, with WWE going for a break up, this was a good week in the development starting with Ezekiel Jackson and William Regal apologizing to each other for last week, while Jackson refused to apologize to Vladimir Kozlov. It continued with a better execution of a similar situation to last week's main event, as Kozlov and Jackson accidentally distracted Regal at ringside, costing him his match (solid match) against Goldust. The end of the show saw a further development as Jackson left Kozlov alone at the end of their main event tag match against Christian and Shelton Benjamin. The match itself was a solid main event with some nice athleticism from Christian and Benjamin, but the real story was the continued disintegration of the Ruthless Roundtable. Regal's facial expressions were great all night.

Baretta & Croft: WWE needs to go back to giving tag teams names. I like saying Cryme Tyme much better than if I had to say Gaspard & JTG. Anyway, I liked the debut of Trent Baretta and Caylen Croft. I enjoyed their brief scene introducing themselves to Tiffany. They played their parts well and I can definitely see potential in their charisma. They also showed potential in the ring in their short squash of the two jobbers. It is obviously too early to tell how good they can be, but the first night was a good first impression.

ECW MISSES

Archer's Interview: I wanted to give this a Hit as a few weeks ago I suggested that WWE give more to Vance Archer's character than just being intense. They actually did that here. I liked what he said about savoring his climb to the top. It was an interesting twist on the new wrestler just wanting to shoot straight to the top. He knows he will get there and is going to enjoy the ride. However, I have to give it a Miss for the ridiculous inset video clips that they played throughout the interview. That totally took the viewer out of the moment. Obviously the interview isn't happening "live" if they can cut in clips during it. It was way over produced, doing a disservice to Archer.
