ECW HITS

Benjamin vs. Ryder: We've seen these two have several matches on ECW and Superstars over the last few weeks. This one was the best. It went back and forth very nicely. I was glad that Rosa Mendes' role was kept to a minimum, just causing a bit of a distraction for Shelton Benjamin in the middle of the match, but not playing into the finish the way she has been lately. I like how Zack Ryder hit the two big splashes on Benjamin. I felt for sure he was going to miss at least one of them, but he hit them both. Benjamin did a good job of shaking off the pain to make his comeback. The ending was strong as he did the nice power bomb into the turnbuckle to set up Pay Dirt.

Benjamin vs. Christian in a Ladder Match: I was glad to hear Christian make a point of saying that ECW has been overlooked for too long on WWE PPVs. I was also glad to hear him define the concept of TLC, where there will be one tables match, one ladder match, one chair match and one TLC match. I also love the possibility of seeing this ladder match between him and Benjamin. It definitely has a chance to steel the show. After Jesse Ventura spoke for many fans in saying that he was tired of the same matches for the WWE Title, Christian spoke for many ECW fans when he said that it was time for ECW to not be overlooked. Even Michelle McCool said on Raw that the Divas had been asked to do a lot of stupid things, but the Mayflower Melee (or whatever they called it) was the stupidest. What's up with wrestlers speaking for the fans all of a sudden?

ECW MISSES

Ruthless Roundtable Break Up: This just came out of nowhere. There was a bit of a hint earlier in the show when William Regal was slightly condescending towards Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson when talking about still wanting the ECW Title. But, the execution at the end of the show was terrible. Kozlov needed to do something more egregious than what he did to accidentally cost Regal his match against Yoshi Tatsu. He sort of pie faced him, then Tatsu spun around and kicked Regal. I'm not sure exactly how that was supposed to have "cost" Regal the match. It made no sense. The bit that followed was hurt by the set up to the premise. Regal didn't even seem to know what had happened, so why did Kozlov feel the need to blame Jackson? I didn't get it. Also, the team hasn't been around long enough for a break up to really mean anything at this point.
