SUPERSTARS HITS
Haas & Benjamin vs. Primo & Carlito: This tag match was going on quite well until Cryme Tyme showed up. Even though I was disappointed in that aspect of the match, I am still giving the match a Hit as Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin, Carlito and Primo all worked hard and put on a good match. I continue to enjoy seeing the Colon brothers team, and it has been fun to see a World's Greatest Tag Team reunion. The match was fun with plenty of good tag team wrestling action. At least Cryme Tyme didn't directly interfere in the match. They caused a distraction for Haas & Benjamin, but it didn't directly lead to the end. Carlito looked very good after coming in from the hot tag. That spring board missile drop kick was great as was the finishing sequence as he flipped over Haas and hit the Back Stabber.
Swagger's Strong Win: Jack Swagger vs. Finlay was a good short match. In some cases I would be upset about a short match like this between two upper level (at least in terms of the ECW roster) wrestlers. But, in this case it was great to see Swagger get such a strong win over a strong opponent like Finlay. Swagger is going to be at Extreme Rules trying to win the ECW Championship. He needs to be kept strong. He looked strong on ECW, standing tall over both Christian and Tommy Dreamer, with the help of the Hart Dynasty. This helps him even more. Besides, the longer matches between these two haven't gone so well, so I am fine with a shorter match in this case.
Cena vs. DiBiase: Ted DiBiase keeps showing that he has a future in this business. He looked very good in this match against John Cena. The match went back and forth and never dragged. Both wrestlers showed great intensity throughout. I really liked how the match went to commercial. I was expecting it to go right after DiBiase slipped out of the ring. That seems to be the typical WWE pattern. Instead, the match continued until DiBiase got the upper hand on Cena which was a nice surprise before the commercial break. After the commercial, the match continued to be enjoyable to watch. Cena was good in his come backs and attempts to hit the Attitude Adjuster. DiBiase looked good in avoided that move. The match built well to the final few moments as Cena ultimately got the submission win, hyping his submission match with the Big Show. It was good to see DiBiase hang with Cena as well as he did despite taking the loss.
SUPERSTARS MISSES
Cryme Tyme: My problem with the Cryme Tyme interference in the opening match is that it was too random. Did I forget something? Cryme Tyme teamed with John Morrison to face Haas & Benjamin and Ricky Ortiz for a 6 man tag last week on Smackdown. However, Cryme Tyme's team won. That match up was random enough, but I guess there are only two teams on Smackdown right now. But, why would Cryme Tyme run distraction in this match? They won last week, so they shouldn't have been wanting revenge this week. This is another case where a babyface, or in this case a babyface team, acts like a heel. They distracted Haas & Benjamin who had done nothing to them. WWE wants to start a feud between these two teams, but there are better ways of doing it. Have some foresight and have Cryme Tyme's team lose last week after cheating from the heels. That would give Cryme Tyme a reason to want revenge by costing them a chance to get a win over the Tag Champs. Then the feud progresses from there.
McMahon vs. Kroenke Video: This was one of the worst segments in Raw history. It was horrible to watch on Raw. I was very happy that WWE didn't replay it on ECW. In general I am fine with replays like this on Superstars, but I think WWE would be better served to show videos for ECW or Superstars than for Raw, but that is another topic. In this case, I did not want to see a replay of the stupid footage from Raw. I could go on, but it would be a waste of my time. Just read my Raw Hits & Misses to see more of a rant.
Wasting Cena's Appearance: I know that Cena vs. DiBiase was announced ahead of time, but having John Cena, the biggest star in WWE right now, on Superstars for the first time should have been treated as a bigger deal. This is more of a retroactive Miss for Raw. WWE simply should have really hyped this match on Raw to help the ratings.
