MAIN EVENT FEUD
John Cena's Return: I don't think anyone saw Chris Jericho regaining the World Title on Raw after just one week from Batista winning the title. With a year full of cage matches, this one was probably the best, despite Batista's slow reaction to Jericho escaping through the door early on. So with that, Chris Jericho pitted against the returning John Cena is your main event in Boston this Sunday.
I don't really like this match-up one bit. I mean, what did Cena do to deserve a title shot the night back from his injury? It's not like he was injured during a title match; that would at least justify the position a bit.
Be that as it may, I am holding my breath and predicting that Jericho will retain the World Heavyweight Title at Survivor Series. I know that WWE really does not like to have a returning star lose his first match back, and rightfully so. If Cena was brought back the way that Triple H or Rey Mysterio were at last year's Summerslam, I would say that he should win his match. But he is being instantly thrown into a title match. I know WWE wants to build Cena up as a superman, but he already won the Royal Rumble in a return earlier this year; he doesn't need to win the World Heavyweight Championship as well.
MID-CARD PREDICTION
Traditional Survivor Series Matches: With this Sunday's pay-per-view we will be treated to the five-on-five elimination style matches that Survivor Series was born from. Granted, these matches aren't quite as special as when there was a definitive brand split and guys who did not interact on a regular basis were involved with one another, but nevertheless they are both going to be fun matches.
First up is Team JBL versus Team Michaels. This match features two older feuds (Kane versus Mysterio, and Cryme Tyme versus Miz and Morrison) and two newer feuds (MVP versus Khali, and JBL versus Michaels). This match does not have the intrigue level of the other Survivor Series match, but it should be fun to watch.
I'm looking for this match to stay pretty even throughout. I predict the unlikely pairing of Rey Mysterio and The Great Khali to be the final survivors, last eliminating Kane after a Mysterio splash off Khali's shoulders.
And then we have Team Orton versus Team Batista. First off, I want to know why Brian Kendrick is not in this match and instead we have the likes of Mark Henry and Cody Rhodes. I hope there will be some progression with Priceless and Orton, which would justify Rhodes, but as I see it, this match is no place for Mark Henry.
But that aside, I am really looking forward to this match. Orton versus Batista is a match that I have been looking forward to for a long time and this is one step forward to their inevitable one-on-one meeting. R-Truth, Shelton Benjamin, and Kofi Kingston are always entertaining in the ring and I expect nothing less from any of them. C.M. Punk and William Regal are also both solid workers and should get the crowd going. And as I already stated, the dynamic between Priceless and Orton should be something to look forward to.
As for this prediction, I'm looking for Team Orton to get the win. I see Batista coming back from a four on one disadvantage, thus leaving Orton versus Batista as the final two combatants. From there Orton hits the RKO after a distraction from Priceless to win as the sole survivor.
FINGERS CROSSED PREDICTION
Bring Back Christopher Daniels! It is about time that TNA gives Samoa Joe and A.J. Styles some real help against the other top draws in the company. It is definitely good that they now have some back-up, but instead of other established TNA guys, they have a bunch of jobbers and jokes joining them. Nobody thinks that these wrestlers stand a chance against the likes of Angle, Booker, or Steiner.
The reason why other established TNA Originals can join up with Joe and Styles is because TNA never established their own stars but instead used stars that were created in WWE or WCW. It is ridiculous that in the entire life of TNA they could not produce more than two stars.
But that aside, the one man who can make an impact and even the odds a bit is Christopher Daniels. Daniels was arguably the third biggest TNA homegrown star behind Styles and Joe. He has also been out of sight for long enough where he would be a surprise to the Main Event Mafia, as well as to the TNA fans.
It's no secret that Daniels is behind the mask as Curry Man and let's face it, that gimmick is well past its prime. Instead, why not have him come back? Sure, last time he was on TV he was fired, but look how many "fired" guys the WWE has brought back. A simple solution after him making a run-in against the MEM would be for Mick Foley to reveal that he re-hired Daniels.
Whatever happens down the line, Styles and Joe definitely need more firepower backing them than Eric Young.
PLEASE NOT THAT PREDICTION
Jeff Hardy's New Attitude: I have not read the spoilers for next week's Smackdown, so just keep that in mind while reading this next segment.
I admit that it was pretty neat to see Hardy get fired up and pissed off last week. He has come so close time and again, but he cannot get the big win that he has been so close to for so long. It makes sense that he would reach a breaking point and start attacking others who could potentially take his spot.
One thing I do not think that the Jeff Hardy's character needs is to go even further and act like a wacko. He looked completely stupid this past Friday night. I don't want to see another "deranged" character that paints his face. I would much rather see Jeff Hardy with a slight tweak in his persona to explain the human emotion boiling within him.
In life, when somebody gets frustrated with the way things are going they do change the way that they act, but they don't typically do a complete character overhaul and dive into darkness. One thing that is cool about wrestling is that the character can be larger than life, but we have enough of these dark deranged characters that we don't need Hardy transforming into one as well.
ONE LAST PREDICTION
With only five matches announced thus far, there is definitely room for at least one more on the card. I'm really hoping for an appearance from Santino and maybe a Women's division Survivor Series-style match.
