"Ultima Lucha" Night 2

The show opened with a graphic saying that tonight's show is "dedicated to the memory of the original Rudo 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper." Next was a video package featuring Dario giving his speech from the first episode. Then, highlights of Lucha Underground champion Prince Puma, Konnan, Pentagon, Jr., Vampiro, Chavo Guerrero, Texano, Blue Demon, Jr., Johnny Mundo, Alberto El Patrón, Mil Muertes, Catrina, and Black Lotus.

Announcers: Striker welcomed the audience to the show. Tonight he was joined by Michael Schiavello on commentary. Striker thanked the audience for their support then threw to the ring.

In-ring: Santos introduced Mundo for the opening contest. Next out was Alberto El Patrón.

1 -- AAA Mega champion ALBERTO EL PATRÓN vs. JOHNNY MUNDO

Mundo ran to the outside early on. Alberto chased him down, then caught him on the apron and threw him into the barricade, then the announce table. Alberto slammed Mundo's arm into the table then Mundo crawled under the ring. Alberto found Mundo, but Mundo threw dirt into Alberto's eyes. Mundo threw him into the announce table, then the barricade.

Back in the ring, Mundo put pressure on Alberto's head. Mundo landed a kick and went for a pin. Johnny went for End of the World, but Alberto got up to stop him. Alberto slammed Mundo off the turnbuckle. They traded blows in the middle of the ring, then Alberto hit a few clotheslines. He slammed Mundo, then got fired up.

Alberto hit a backbreaker, then set up for a superkick, but Mundo countered and hit a kick of his own. Mundo set up Alberto on the turnbuckle and hit a backbreaker from the top. Mundo went to the top, but missed a 450 splash. Alberto came right back with a clothesline sending Mundo to the outside. Alberto went for a dive, but Mundo kicked him for the stop.

Mundo then hit a corkscrew to the outside. Alberto signaled for the armbar and locked it in. It was not the end, though, as Mundo rolled to the ropes to break the hold. Mundo recovered, then knocked Alberto off the turnbuckle and hit the End of the World for a nearfall. Alberto hit a codebreaker, then accidentally kicked the referee and locked in the armbar. Mundo tapped out, but there was no referee. Alberto locked in another armbar on the ropes, then Melina made a surprise appearance running to the ring to hit Alberto with his title. Mundo then landed End of the World for the win.

WINNER: Mundo at 13:39.

Post-match: Melina and Mundo celebrated in the ring then Alberto threw Mundo out of the ring and into the barricade. Alberto signaled the fans to move and threw Mundo onto a bunch of chairs, then through a door. Melina tried to attack Alberto, but he ended up spanking her multiple times. Mundo's face was completely busted open and Alberto celebrated with his title.

Backstage: El Dragon Azteca told Black Lotus that he would get her out of the prison. Dario said Dragon had never been a man of honor and the punishment for breaking the treaty is death. Black Lotus strangled El Dragon then killed him with a blow to the back. Dario offered his hand to help a Black Lotus. Dario said he is the only one who can help her. She asked about Dario's brother and Dario said he was coming with her.

[JD's Reax: Realllly not sure what happened there. Can't tell if Lotus believed Dario's lie and killed El Dragon or if El Dragon really did kill her parents. Who the hell knows, but it's exciting!]

In-ring: Santos introduced Pentagon Jr. to the ring for the Cero Miedo match. Next out was Vampiro. He wore a pope like outfit with face paint.

[Break]

2 – VAMPIRO vs. PENTAGON, JR. - Cero Miedo match

Pentagon whacked Vampiro with a chair to start the match. Pentagon continued to beat him with the chair outside of the ring. They brawled amongst the crowd. Pentagon removed the padding on the floor and slammed Vampiro onto the concrete then threw chairs on him and hit him multiple times. The referee stopped Pentagon and threw up the the medical symbol to get some help. He was stretchered away.

[Break]

Vampiro hit the medics, then hit a dropkick on Pentagon. He poured out a bag of thumbtacks, then scoopslammed Pentagon onto the tacks. Vampiro went for a dive and landed on the tacks. Pentagon grabbed a light tube and whacked it over Pentagon's head. Vampiro began to bleed and Pentagon licked his blood, then kicked him in the head and grabbed another lighttube.

Vampiro stood up and Pentagon fought back then set the lighttube in a corner. Vampiro threw Pentagon into the tube, then tore Pentagon's mask. Vampiro broke the lighttube over Vampiro's head. Vampiro hit a belly-to-belly off the top rope, then grabbed a table from under the ring. Vampiro set up the table in the ring, then lit it on fire. But, Pentagon slammed Vampiro onto the table for the win.

WINNER: Pentagon at 14:12 (including commercial).

Post-match: Vampiro demanded Pentagon to break his arm. Pentagon 'broke' Vampiro's arm, then told his master that he has finished what he needed to. Vampiro exposed himself as Pentagon's master and told him that as his master he is ready. They embraced each other and celebrated in the ring.

[JD's Reax: I feel like I should have seen this one coming, but I didn't and it totally worked.]

[Break]

In-ring: All seven luchadors were in the ring for the gift of the gods match.

[Break]

3 -- BENGALA vs. JACK EVANS vs. BIG RYCK vs. SEXY STAR vs. FENIX vs. KING CUERNO vs. AEROSTAR -- Gift of the Gods match

Everyone brawled to begin the match. Ryck then cleared the ring of all the competitors. AeroStar held onto Ryck, then he threw him to the outside. They all came in at once and took down Ryck. They cleared the competitors again and AeroStar dove onto Fenix, then Fenix hit a powerslam. Cuerno and Evans fought each other inside the ring, then Cuerno hit a big kick on the outside. Bengala hit a backbreaker on Cuerno.

Sexy Star and Bengala fought until Ryck interfered and slammed Bengala. Ryck cleaned house again and beat down all the luchadors. AeroStar climbed to the top of the temple and leaped onto several luchadors. Sexy Star got ready for a dive until Marty The Moth entered the ring. They fought each other, then she dove onto several luchadors in the match.

Ryck grabbed Star, but Star hit a huracanrana. Cuerno beat down Star and hit Thrill of the Hunt, but he chose not to cover Star. Fenix and Cuerno briefly brawled until Bengala got involved and beat on Cuerno, then hit a corkscrew onto Fenix. Cuerno then dove onto Bengala. AeroStar and Evans fought in the ring until AeroStar hit a DDT.

Sexy Star fought AeroStar and went for a pin. Meanwhile, Ryck chokeslammed Star into the mat. Daivari then appeared and hit Ryck with a chair. Evans went for the cover, but Cuerno stopped him and put him in a submission hold. Fenix broke the hold. Evans hit several kicks then put Fenix in a tarantula. Fenix broke the hold, though, and hit a piledriver for the win.

WINNER: Fenix at 12:12.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced Texano to the ring. Next out was Blue Demon. Santos announced that the match was now No DQ due to Blue Demon's legendary status.

[Break]

4 -- TEXANO vs. BLUE DEMON, JR. (w/The Crew) - No DQ match

Texano hit a clothesline and superkick out of the gate. He took out The Crew as well, then went back on the attack. Texano hit a suplex and multiple chops. He then landed a spinebuster and powerbomb. The Crew held down Texano while Demon grabbed a cane. Chavo Guerrero then threatened to hit Demon, but hit Texano instead. Demon then stood on Texano for the pin.

WINNER: Blue Demon at 3:00.

Post-match: Chavo and Demon celebrated, then Demon went full heel and gave the finger to the crowd.

[Break]

Backstage: Puma and Muertes were both shown heading towards the ring.

In-ring: Santos introduced Mil Muertes for the main event.

5 -- Lucha Underground champion PRINCE PUMA vs. MIL MUERTES (w/Catrina) - Lucha Underground Championship match

They traded blows early on until Puma was knocked down. Puma hit a huracanrana, then Muertes knocked Puma to the outside. They took their fight to the stands and brawled into the crowd. They fought in the stands, then Puma picked up Catrina and used her as a weapon to hit Muertes. Muertes cleared the crowd and threw Puma into a row of chairs. Muertes tried to throw Puma into the barricade, but Puma flipped out of it, then kicked Muertes.

Puma set up a table, but Muertes hit Puma. Muertes threw Puma into the stairs before powerbombing Puma onto the steel steps. Puma went for a dive to the outside, then Muertes whacked Puma over the head with a chair. Muertes positioned a chair between the ropes, but Puma avoided being thrown into the chair and he stomped onto Muertes. Puma avoided a spear and Muertes ran into the chair. Puma kicked Muertes for a nearfall.

Puma went to the top and went for a corkscrew, but Muertes avoided it. Muertes put Puma in the corner and hit uppercuts and clotheslines. Puma rolled through for another kick. Puma hit a German suplex, then dropped Muertes. But, Muertes speared Puma through the ropes and through the table. Muertes followed by powerbombing Puma onto the table again to break it. Muertes hit a spinning chokeslam.

Puma fired back with a superkick, then roundhouse kick. He set up for a 630 splash and landed it. Puma went for another splash, but missed this time. Muertes then hit a spear and a Flatliner for a nearfall. Puma climbed to the top and knocked off Muertes, but Muertes climbed back up and hit a Flatliner from the top. It was good for the win to end Puma's season-long title reign.

Post-match: Catrina licked Puma. The disciples entered the ring and celebrated with Muertes.

WINNER: Mil Muertes at 17:42 to capture the Lucha Underground Championship.

Backstage: Lotus was packing a ton of things in Dario's office. Dario and Lotus left in a black vehicle with with a trailer attached where we got our first look at Dario's brother.

Lucha then showed Texano and Fenix exiting the building. Also, Marty had Sexy Star tied up in a dark room. Meanwhile, Son of Havoc and Ivelisse rode motorcycles to retrieve their trios titles. Then, AeroStar and Drago shook hands before Drago went into flames. Vampiro stood behind Pentagon. El Dragon was alive and stood behind a billboard of Lucha Underground with a question mark. Dario then stood in the temple while all the lights turned off. The show ended with a black screen that said To Be Continued...

FINAL THOUGHTS: Well, that is a wrap for the first season of Lucha Underground. This show had everything you would expect from Lucha Underground and more. This show delivered at the highest level and truly felt like a season finale of a highly-acclaimed drama. Storylines ended and storylines began. There were twists and turns with many surprises that will get every fan excited for the second season. Lucha Underground is a very unique show for many reasons, but where they achieve the most is with their storytelling. For those who stuck with the show they were rewarded at the end with some pay-offs and intrigue for the hopeful next season. Lucha Underground is one of the best wrestling shows today and will go down in history as a unique true alternative to the mainstream that captured what can be really great about wrestling.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Johnny Mundo pinned Alberto El Patrón... (2) Pentagon, Jr. beat Vampiro... (3) Fenix won the gift of the gods... (4) Blue Demon, Jr. beat Texano... (5) Mil Muertes captured the Lucha Underground championship from Prince Puma.
