Lucha Underground Report
May 13, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #27 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

The show opened with a video package featuring Alberto El Patrón, Johnny Mundo, Hernandez, and Dario Cueto.

Backstage: Dario walked by a cage. He spoke about medallions and how when put together they create a warrior. He was speaking to his brother and said he may bring a TV up to him so he can enjoy the mayhem.

Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Announcers: Vampiro and Striker welcomed the audience to the show. Striker hyped the main event tonight between Hernandez and El Patrón. Vampiro also said that Dario will make an announcement and we will see the debut of a new luchador.

In-ring: Santos introduced AeroStar for the opening contest. Next out was Jack Evans, making his Lucha Underground debut.

1 -- AEROSTAR vs. JACK EVANS

Evans kicked down Star, then whipped him into the ropes to start things off. Star dodged a corner attack, then walked across the ropes for a huracanrana. Star dropkicked Evans off the apron, then hit a Senton bomb to the outside. Star was first to his feet and threw Evans back in the ring. Evans tossed Star to the mat then taunted the crowd. Evans dodged a kick and locked on the STF. Star broke the hold by getting to the ropes. Evans landed a nice kick to the head, then a standing corkscrew for a two count.

Evans hit a German suplex and continued to taunt the crowd. Star tossed Evans to the outside. Star went for a dive, but instead threw Evans into the barricade. Evans kicked Star to the mat then climbed the barricade for a 450 splash. "This is awesome" chants cued up. Evans missed a corkscrew inside the ring. Star then slowly mounted the turnbuckle, but Evans recovered and kicked Star's shoulder. Evans climbed the turnbuckle himself, but Star hit a front flip piledriver for the win.

WINNER: AeroStar at 8:30 with a piledriver.

[Break]

Backstage: Big Ryck was counting his money, and The Mack suggested Ryck should give him some. Ryck said this business is all about making money while you can. He finished by saying if he was given the right amount of money he would take out someone in his own family.

In-ring: Several luchadors filled the ring for Dario's announcement. Dario entered the temple and said that one the seven luchadors will win one of the medallions. The medallions give them a chance at immortality.

[Break]

2 -- SEXY STAR vs. PENTAGON, JR. vs. KING CUERNO vs. THE MACK vs. CAGE vs. KILLSHOT vs. FENIX - Battle for the Immortal Medallion

All luchadors fought each other to start, then Pentagon and Fenix were left in the ring. Fenix kicked Pentagon, then landed a flying dropkick. Pentagon hit a swinging neckbreaker for a two count, then a big DDT before falling to the outside. Fenix hit a huracanrana, then Killshot fought Cuerno inside the ring. Cuerno chopped Shot and sent him to the corner, but Shot escaped and landed a dropkick.

Cuerno dropkicked Shot into the corner, but Sexy Star leaped onto Cuerno, so Cuerno tossed her out of the ring. Meanwhile, Cage worked with Cuerno for a 619 on Killshot. Cage and Cuerno hit a double suplex on Killshot and Mack, then leaped from the top onto Mack and Cage. But, Sexy Star broke up a pin. Multiple attacks and kicks went flying afterward.

Mack and Killshot tried to attack Pentagon and Fenix until they countered and stomped Mack and Killshot. They then clotheslined each other. Star got involved and broke up Cuerno and Cage, then Star dove onto Pentagon. Elsewhere, Cage threw Mack into the corner, then slammed him. Multiple dives followed, then Cuerno hit Thrill of the Hunt. Star went for a pin, but Pentagon broke it up.

Pentagon then slammed Star, but the pin was broken up by Mack. Mack hit a standing moonsault on Cage, then Pentagon and Fenix battled it out. Pentagon rolled to the outside and Fenix hit a corkscrew off the top. Fenix went for a suicide dive, but was caught by Cage. Killshot dove onto both of them, though. Cuerno then hit his own suicide dive on Killshot.

Back in the ring, Pentagon threw Sexy Star into the corner. Pentagon hit a piledriver on Fenix, then tried to Fenix's arm, but Sexy Star broke up the submission, only to get dropped by Pentagon. Finally, Fenix hit a reverse huracanrana and a standing moonsault for the win.

WINNER: Fenix at 10:15.

[Break]

Backstage: Dario told the Trios champions that he liked them. He said that The Crew will receive a chance to face them next week in a ladder match. Or, Dario threatened to take the titles away from them. They chose to work together and fight instead.

Backstage: Fenix was taking off his boots in the locker room when the lights turned off. Catrina appeared and said that he fell into her trap. She said that she needed Fenix so that Mil Muertes could come back even stronger. Several luchadors in skull masks appeared above Fenix then leaped onto him.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced the main event. First to the ring was Hernandez. Next out was Alberto El Patrón.

3 -- AAA Mega Champion ALBERTO EL PATRÓN vs. HERNANDEZ - Non-Title #1 Contender's Match for the LU Championship

Both men locked up quickly. Alberto pushed Hernandez in the corner, then broke the hold. Hernandez cornered Alberto, then broke his pressure. They went to lock hands, but Hernandez pushed Alberto in the corner. Hernandez knocked Alberto to the outside and shoved him into the ring apron. But, Alberto fought back with a series of clotheslines and a backbreaker.

Alberto went for a superkick, but Hernandez moved and attacked Alberto. Hernandez lifted Alberto onto his shoulders and drove Alberto's back into his shoulder. Alberto got back up and drove his knees into the arm of Hernandez. Alberto called for the armbar, but was attacked by Johnny Mundo. The match continued, though. Mundo pulled Alberto out of the ring and through the window of Cuerto's office. Mundo threw Alberto back into the ring and Hernandez got the easy pin.

WINNER: Hernandez at 5:08.

FINAL THOUGHTS: The Aztec Medallion match was a huge spot fest, but it worked for me because they were trying to win at all costs... A heel turn was bound to happen after Ryck said the business was all about making money and turning on your friends for the right price. It was time for Mundo to turn as he was losing steam as a face and fans were about ready to boo him... It was neat seeing Alberto fly into Dario's office so we could see what that looks like in the temple setting.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) AeroStar pinned Jack Evans... (2) Fenix won the Aztec Medallion... (3) Hernandez became number one contender after interference by Johnny Mundo.
