FCW TV REPORT 6/14: Lance Hoyt in WWE developmental, Ezekiel Jackson squash, Ricky Ortiz challenges for FCW Title...and has a good match Jun 27, 2009 - 1:25:33 PM
Florida Championship Wrestling TV Report
June 14, 2009
Aired on the Bright House Sports Network
Report by Cody Endres, PWTorch contributor
-Following the opening, we head right to the ring. Announcers for this episode are Dusty Rhodes and Byron Saxton. It looks like we may have seen the last of Josh Mathews in FCW.
1 – JON CUTLER & LANCE HOYT vs. VIC ADAMS & DUKE ROTUNDO
The team of Adams & Rotundo is making their FCW television debut. If you remember from the last episode, Adams & Rotundo work as some sort of protection agency for hire. The phone number they listed during their promo was actually Brian Blair's voicemail. In retrospect, that was a horrible decision. Rotundo takes Cutler down with a series of running shoulder blocks. Rotundo really stands out since he doesn't have the typical muscle head appearance of everyone else. Hoyt tags in, but Rotundo takes him back to his corner and tags in Adams. Rotundo & Adams hit Hoyt with a double-suplex for a nearfall. Hoyt misses a big boot. Adams catches Hoyt with a running shoulder tackle. While the referee is scolding Hoyt for illegal tactics, Cutler punches Adams from behind. Hoyt grabs Adams in a chokeslam position. Instead of a chokeslam, Hoyt tosses Adams halfway across the ring with a variation of an overhead suplex. Hoyt gives Adams a big boot for a nearfall. Adams makes the hot tag to Rotundo. Rotundo gives Cutler a one-handed scoop slam and connects with a running senton. Rotundo tags Adams back in. While Rotundo & Hoyt brawl on the floor, Adams executes a sitdown uranage on Cutler for the win.
WINNERS: Vic Adams & Duke Rotundo in 6:32. Everyone looked good here. This Adams & Rotundo combination has promise.
-ECW General Manager Tiffany came to the ring. She brought out Johnny Prime and then his arch nemesis, Alex Riley accompanied by Beverly. Tiffany said that it was no secret that both of them have had a long and bitter rivalry. Tiffany said she had spoken with FCW President Steve Keirn and was given the authority to book them in a match. This match will end the feud once and for all. Next week, for the first time on FCW television, Prime and Riley will face off in a Last Man Standing match. Riley attacked Prime and let Beverly slap him.

2 – ABRAHAM WASHINGTON vs. FLETCHER CHASE – Special Ref: Sheamus O'Shaunessy
Washington came out wearing a muscle shirt with the White House emblem on it. Washington gave his security team permission to leave the ringside area. Both men trade offense in the corner. Chase chokes Washington over the ropes. Both men roll each other up and grab the tights, but O'Shaunessy refuses to count either pinfall. Frustrated over his constant cheating, O'Shaunessy puts down Chase with a big boot. Washington tries to shake O'Shaunessy's hand. O'Shaunessy hits Washington with the Fiery Red Hand right on top of Chase. O'Shaunessy's music starts playing. The match is apparently over.
WINNER: No Contest in 2:42. The string of horrible segments involving the battle over the FCW General Manager position continues.

3 – EZEKIEL JACKSON vs. LUPE SANTIAGO
Jackson is THE Brian Kendrick's former bodyguard and was recently drafted to ECW, but has yet to make his debut. Santiago attempts a dropkick, but Jackson swats him out of the way. Jackson hits a nasty lariat. Jackson with a urange for the easy win.
WINNER: Ezekiel Jackson in 0:42. Something has to be done about the fact that just about every other wrestler in this promotion utilizes some sort of urange maneuver.
-After the match, Jackson requested a microphone. Jackson said this sort of thing would happen again and again. "One word – domination," he said.
-A campaign video for Abraham Washington aired. Washington said that he loves kids – as long as they aren't his. Washington called himself a man of the people. A woman off camera said she loved him and tossed a large pair of granny panties in his face. Washington told her she should love Jenny Craig. He ended by saying he had our back – sitting on those 40 inch rims in his new Cadillac.

4 – SWEET PAPI SANCHEZ vs. FCW Tag Champs TRENT BERETTA & CAYLEN CROFT – Handicap Match
Croft & Beretta came to the ring with only one title belt since Tyler Reks stole one of the belts last week. No explanation for this handicap match is given. The heel team stalls for a period of time. Sanchez clears the ring of both men. Beretta runs up behind Sanchez and chopblocks his leg. Beretta with a double axe-handle off the top rope. Beretta & Croft hit simultaneous double clothelines on each side of Sanchez. Croft climbs up to the second rope. Tyler Reks, dressed as a Frenchman and carrying a baguette, walks to ringside with one of the tag title belts to distract the heel team. In case you're wondering why Reks is dressed as a Frenchman, Beretta & Croft did the same thing a couple months ago. Sanchez nails Croft with a running splash for the win.
WINNER: Sweet Papi Sanchez in 4:18. Waste of time.
-A campaign video for Fletcher Chase aired. Chase referred to himself as the future FCW General Manager and said he was on a mission of positivity. Unlike Washington, he won't resort to negative campaign smear tactics. For example, he wouldn't say that Washington is better suited for custodial service than public service.

-Footage aired from last week of the main event involving Drew McIntyre defending the FCW Title against Ricky Ortiz. With the referee fixing a turnbuckle pad, McIntyre grabbed his title to use as a weapon. Back in the ring, Ortiz seized control of the belt. The ref turned around and promptly disqualified Ortiz. Ortiz pleaded his case to the ref to no avail. Due to the circumstances, we will have a rematch as our main event.
5 – DREW MCINTYRE vs. RICKY ORTIZ – FCW Championship Match
When the bell rings, Ortiz pushes McIntyre down to the mat and attempts to sink in a leg lock submission. McIntyre makes it to the ropes. Ortiz with a Japanese arm drag. McIntyre retreats to the floor. Back in the ring, Ortiz connects with a flying shoulder tackle and begins working over the arm of McIntyre. Ortiz goes for an armbar submission, but McIntyre slips out. Ortiz continues to work over the arm. Both men yank each other to the mat with a pull of the hair. McIntyre rolls outside. Ortiz with a running baseball slide. Ortiz leaps off the apron, but McInyre catches him and turns it into a powerslam on the floor.
[Commercial Break]
McIntyre has Ortiz in a headlock. Ortiz battles out and hits the ropes. McIntyre with another powerslam for a nearfall. Back on the floor, McIntyre shoves Ortiz's back into the side of the ring. McIntyre switches between working over the back and then the neck of Ortiz. The announcers said that even though Ortiz was a Smackdown superstar, the FCW Championship still means a lot to him. Ortiz cries out in pain as McIntyre puts the boots to him. McIntyre slows the match down to a standstill with a few chinlocks. Ortiz surprises McIntyre with a sunset flip for a nearfall. McIntyre retaliates with a big boot. McIntyre grabs Ortiz in a side headlock, but Ortiz turns it into a side Saito suplex for a nearfall. Ortiz gives McIntyre a Samoan drop for another nearfall. Ortiz attempts to pin McIntyre with a backslide and then a small package. McIntyre hits a float over DDT out of nowhere for a nearfall. McIntyre places Ortiz up on the top rope and Ortiz shoves him off. McIntyre quickly runs back up the ropes and gives Ortiz the Scot Drop off the second rope for the win.
WINNER: Drew McIntyre in 13:00 to retain the FCW Championship. Leagues above their match from last week's episode. Perhaps the best Ricky Ortiz match I've seen.
-Advertised for the next episode: Johnny Prime vs. Alex Riley end their feud with a Last Man Standing match.
