Given the lack of time spent in the ring on actual wrestling, this was a good show. The show was missing a lot of the backstage silliness and go nowhere skits that plagued the company for the last several month (the ODB stuff I forwarded through). There was a focus on building to the Lockdown PPV, with the focus on Mick Foley vs. Sting, Team 3-D vs. Beer Money and the Main Event Mafia vs. Team Frontline as the key matches at the upcoming PPV. If they can keep the build to Lockdown simple and not overbook these storylines, the PPV should do better than the previous PPV's. Better in ring matches would have pushed the rating higher.

I'm kinda getting sick of the same opening to the show- the MEM interview, but at least they mixed in the Motor City MachineGuns for something different this week. Bashir vs. Suicide was good and it was booking 101, having the challenger get the win in a non-title match to give the illusion that the title is in jeopardy. I liked Mick Foley's in-ring promo, but the ODB stuff was predictably bad, though it could've been saved had it not been for Cody Deaner's overacting.

I also liked Booker's serious promo, but what happened to Joe's feud with Scott Steiner? Joe vs. Booker was way too short and odd for Booker to lose on a scoop slam so soon into a match. The women's stuff has take a step back as I think the Beautiful People are more effective in smaller doses. The main event was fine except that the Guns bled in a first blood match, yet that wasn't the end of the match. I don't care if Foley doesn't like it, it demeans the whole point of the referee being out there when Foley can call the shots in his own match.

The Cross The Line slogan has been around for a bit now in TNA, but it seemed more prevalent this week than any other week in recent memory. The slogan is a reference to straying away from the standard babyface and heel storylines prevalent in wrestling promotions. This approach is evident in the Lethal Lockdown and world title situations. Foley and Sting are both tweeners now, as they are not sticking to one side for the fan reaction. There are now questions about Jeff Jarrett and his role, along with Samoa Joe and A.J. Styles. Joe is a face, but has been all heel in his reception of the Front Line's efforts.

There is a sort of mutual respect between 3D and Beer Money for their tag title(s) match at the PPV. The build has been well done with the serious approach. The two teams sharing a moment of respect in the ring tonight may have lessened the effects of the harsh steel cage situation, but it was an interesting approach. Awesome Kong, the dominant heel Knockout, was saved tonight by the babyface Taylor Wilde. The Beautiful People running around cutting hair does not make for exciting TV, but the Wilde/Kong exchange adds a few questions to the Knockout division.

To sum it all up, I enjoyed tonight's show. The storylines have more shades of gray and tweener roles than other wrestling TV shows, but that is why I watch TNA...it's something different. Not knowing what's going to happen with Jarrett, Sting, Foley and company and what their intentions are is what keeps me tuned into Impact every Thursday night.
