ECW TV on Sci-Fi Live Report
April 24 in London, England
Week 46 on Sci-Fi

We start with a recap of C.M. Punk "accidentally" costing Elijah Burke a victory against RVD in last week's main event.

Backstage, C.M. Punk feigned pain and agony while watching a replay of the video package on the monitors. He then turned to the New Breed members and said he's apologizing for last week, but not for encouraging free-thinking in the group. He said he made a mistake and Elijah Burke slowly nodded his head. Punk said tonight they have an eight-man elimination match and they need to make this a memorable match tonight. Thorn, Striker, and Cor Von stood up and shook hands with Punk. He then brushed aside Burke and left off camera, but quickly re-entered the shot and said he was just messing with him. Punk slapped Burke on the back and said they'll be on the same page tonight. The rest of the New Breed wasn't so sure.

Umaga came to the ring with Armando and they showed a replay of the McMahons and Umaga beating down Robby Brookside on Raw last night. Tazz said Lashley is in even more jeopardy after last night. Well, maybe if the McMahons and Lashley forced Great Khali off his feet. Not so much with Mr. Brookside. Lashley came to the ring, and they cut to a shot of Vince McMahon shaking his head while watching backstage.

1 -- ECW champion BOBBY LASHLEY vs. UMAGA (w/Armando Alejandro Estrada) -- non-title match

We start the WrestleMania re-match with Umaga slapping Lashley across the face. Umaga didn't waste any time knocking Lashley out of the ring to the floor. He then slammed Lashley neck-first into the ring steps before clearing the announce table. Nothing came of the clearance, as they returned to the ring. Umaga went for a top rope diving headbutt, he landed on the concrete before hitting any water in the pool. They went into a right hand standing exchange with the fans doing the "boo, yeah, boo, yeah" for Umaga and Lashley, respectively. Lashley got the best of Umaga and dumped him to the outside before Armando smacked Lashley in the back of the head with the ECW Title belt, causing a DQ.

McMahon then walked to ringside and watched as Lashley slammed Armando across the ring. McMahon held Umaga back, then Lashley speared Armando out of his designer shoes. Lashley followed by press slamming Armando over the top rope, with Armando landing at McMahon's feet. Umaga paced around the ringside area as McMahon held him off.

WINNER: Lashley via DQ in 4:00. Lashley avenged the destruction of poor Robby Brookside by destroying poor Armando Alejandro. So, essentially, nothing was accomplished. (1/2*)

[Q2]

They came back and recapped the post-DQ action, including Armando being launched over the top rope to the floor.

Joey Styles and Tazz plugged The Condemned, then we saw a video package on the fight scenes in the movie.

Backstage, Elijah Burke talked to the rest of the New Breed, sans Punk. He said they have a problem and they may have made a mistake by bringing Punk into the New Breed. Cor Von cut off Burke and said it was Burke's idea to bring in Punk. Burke acknowledged that it was his call, and now he doubts himself. Striker tried to be the voice of reason by saying they shouldn't over-analyze the situation. He said Punk's talented and he's just trying to motivate the group. Burke said he can motivate as well, and he's going to lead the team to victory tonight. Punk then snuck into the camera shot out and wrapped an arm around Burke's shoulder. Punk giddily asked what was going on, then Burke rolled his eyes.

[Commercial Break]

Snitsky walked to the ring. It looked like he was biting down on a yellow capsule to make his teeth look even more disgusting. They recapped Snitsky terrorizing Extreme Expose two weeks ago before tossing Balls Mahoney aside.

2 -- SNITSKY vs. BALLS MAHONEY

Snitsky picked up Mahoney in the opening minute and flung him stomach-first into the corner turnbuckles. He then put Mahoney in double underhook position and forced Mahoney's neck toward his stomach. After Mahoney escaped, Snitsky gave him a big boot to the face for the quick, decisive win.

WINNER: Snitsky in 2:00. SOS. (1/4*)

Backstage, Punk talked up the New Breed, sans Elijah Burke. He said he joined the New Breed because he wants to help change the face of the New Breed with a match opportunity like tonight. Burke then entered the discussion and Punk asked him where he's been. Burke said he's been mentally preparing and focusing. Punk then slapped Burke on the shoulder and told the group, "Let's go do this." Punk walked away and Burke gave him another weird look. By design, they've avoided the question of who the odd-man out is in the four-on-four match, which should build more tension between Burke and Punk later on when they have to decide who's on the sidelines.

[Q3]

[Commercial Break]

They recapped Lashley dismantling Armando in the opening segment. More slow-mo replays of Lashley press slamming Armando over the top rope to the floor. Styles and Tazz then plugged the Backlash PPV card to the sounds of Daughtry.

The ECW Originals came through the crowd to the ring and Sandman shared a few rounds of beers with the ringside fans. Elijah Burke then led out the New Breed as the Originals stood their ground in the ring. Punk played to the crowd while floating in the background behind Burke.

[Commercial Break]

New Breed sorted out their assignments, then Burke took the mic and said he wants to make sure this is a fair fight. He pointed out the obvious that there need to be four on each side, so he told Punk to have a seat outside the ring. Punk asked Burke if he was kidding, then Burke left the ring and set up a chair for Punk in the corner of ringside.

3 -- NEW BREED (Elijah Burke & Matt Striker & Kevin Thorn w/Ariel & Marcus Cor Von w/C.M. Punk) vs. ECW ORIGINALS (The Sandman & RVD & Tommy Dreamer & Sabu) -- Elimination match

Burke started the match with Dreamer, who landed a round of scoop slams before decking him in the face with a right hand blow. Sabu then tagged in and took Burke to the mat with a drop toe hold before choking him across the top rope. Sandman followed with a guillotine leg drop as Punk scratched his head with a look of "I told you so" written on his face. Sandman then went up top for a Rolling Rock dive, but Burke moved and rolled up Sandman with a hook of the tights for the first elimination. * Sandman eliminated by Burke in 3:00. * Sabu and Striker then went at it, and Sabu landed a spike DDT. RVD took his first tag of the night and flipped Striker across the ring before going up top. He was distracted by Cor Von, then Striker crotched him up top. RVD quickly recovered with a split-legged moonsault for a cover and an elimination. * Striker eliminated by RVD in 5:00. *

[Q4]

Cor Von quickly attacked RVD from behind after the second elimination, but RVD recovered and tagged out to Sabu, who drove Cor Von to the mat with a modified Camel Clutch. Sabu and Cor Von exchanged control for a few minutes before Cor Von caught Sabu off the ropes with The Pounce, sending Sabu crashing neck-first into the bottom rope. Ouch. Cor Von then picked up the scraps and made a cover for the third elimination. * Sabu eliminated by Cor Von in 10:00 * Dreamer then entered the ring and battled Cor Von before they cut to a break.

[Commercial Break]

Out of the break, Burke pounded Tommy Dreamer on the floor, then he took him back into the ring. Thorn and Cor Von took turns working on Dreamer's back before Dreamer rolled to the outside for a quick breather. Cor Von didn't waste any time and crotched Dreamer across the guardrail. The ref decided that was worthy of a DQ and he tossed Cor Von from the match. Wow. Unbelievably inconsistent. * Cor Von DQ'ed in 16:00 * Back in the ring, the New Breed went to work on Dreamer's lower back. Thorn was lackadaisical on his attack, then Dreamer surprised Dreamer with a spike DDT in center ring. He then covered him for the third elimination. * Thorn eliminated by Dreamer in 17:00 * Burke quickly entered the ring and gave Dreamer the Elijah Express double knee smash to the back of the head. He then covered Dreamer for an elimination. * Dreamer eliminated by Burke in 18:00 *

[Q5 -- over-run]

It came down to Burke vs. RVD and Burke went on the attack. He went for a cover with his feet on the ropes, but the ref caught him in the act and stopped his count. RVD then made a comeback with thrust kicks before Burke raked RVD's eyes. Burke and RVD battled near the ropes, and RVD got the best of Burke with a spin kick as Burke was setting up for a springboard move. RVD then went for a move on the floor, but the ref blocked him. Suddenly, Punk stood up from his chair and kicked Burke square in the back. He then sat back down in his chair like he didn't do anything. RVD took advantage and nailed Burke with the Five Star frogsplash. He then rolled on top of Burke for the pin and the win.

After the match, Punk stared into the crowd, then he slowly entered the ring. Punk stood over Burke's fallen body as the fans chanted, "C-M-Punk", then he slowly picked up Burke and gave him the Go To Sleep. A sudden and awkward move and the crowd didn't react. After a brief silence, the fans started the Punk chant again. We saw a replay of Punk attacking Burke, then Punk left the ring all smiles.

WINNERS: ECW Originals in 22:00. Last week, good TV balanced out against WWE rushing the storyline advancement of tension between Punk and Burke. This week, it felt as if Punk was too forthcoming with his attack on Burke, which is probably why there was noticeable silence when Punk gave Burke the Go To Sleep. (**)
