OVW TV review
October 1, 2005
Taped September 28 in Louisville, Ky.
Report by Killian, PWTorch.com correspondent

We get started with "Last Week On OVW" and the end of the Johnny Jeter vs Daniel Puder match. This includes Puder looking good against Jeter and Mr. Kennedy, and the angle where Matt Cappotelli hits the ring with his crutch to confront Jeter. Mr. Kennedy gets nailed with the crutch, and Jeter clips Cappotelli's leg. Great angle.

We go to a Press Conference at the WB studios hosted by Maria Kannelis, who introduces Cappotelli. Lots of flash bulbs and a rowdy crowd. Cappotelli vows to return to OVW and take his revenge on Jeter, and take the OVW Title in the process. Great promo, only to be interrupted by a Johnny Jeter superkick. Jeter then takes off the OVW Heavyweight Title and administers a violent and bloody whipping on Cappotelli. Afterwards, everyone's favorite new Smackdown superstar Mr. Kennedy jumps into the picture and says, "Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner of the very first Press Conference Podium Match and still OVW Heayweight Champion, Johnny Jeter!" And then of course, adds, "Jeter!"

This angle rocked. Paul Heyman has positioned so many people as stars in OVW. I really liked TNA's debut show on Spike, but they need to study this formula, because Heyman takes his time to make everyone look like such a star. This press conference angle was very good.

(1) AARON "THE IDOL" STEVENS (w/Beth and Shelly) PINNED SETH SKYFIRE, but then was confronted by Alexis Laree and Chris Cage. Seth Skyfire was on fire in this match, and did a really cool dive to the outside off the top rope. Aaron Stevens needed the help of Beth and Shelly to win. After the match, Beth and Shelly held Skyfire as Stevens was about to execute another Idolizer on Skyfire, but Chris Cage hit the ring and started throwing Stevens around. Beth and Shelly hit a low blow on Stevens. Alexis Laree hit the ring, even though she's wearing neck brace, which Beth and Shelly promptly took off her. They set Alexis up for a double suplex, but Alexis turned it into a double DDT. Cage and Alexis cleared the ring.

Maria Kannelis is at the WB studios, and she tells us that Matt Cappotelli has refused medical attention. In walks OVW Champion Johnny Jeter and Mr. Kennedy, who brag about the incident with Cappotelli. Jeter makes faces, shows off Cappotelli's blood on his hands, as Kennedy announces the person responsible for all this chaos is Misterrrrrrrr Kennnnnedyyyy. Pause. Smile. Pause. Kennedy.

We go back to the locker room, where Sose brings the camera man to the dressing area of OVW TV Champion Ken Doane. It's time to clear the air. Kenny Bolin wants it known there is no dissension in Bolin Services. Everyone's happy. Those 1st Class upgrades? Premium meals? All courtesies of the cash cow himself, OVW's biggest merchandise seller, Bobby Lashley. So we're all going to get along with Lashley. Dean Visk screams his head off, and let's us know tonight is Doane vs. Albright Part Three. And when the match with Doane and Albright is over, Visk is going to give the victorious Doane a great big hug. Doane decides to pass on the hug, so Visk screams, "Sose! You hug him when he wins!" and starts shaking Sose left to right. Bobby Lashley walks in. Visk screams, "You! We're friends, amigos, kimo sabees." Doane interrupts the love fest and says it's time to go to the ring for the OVW TV Title match. Bolin, Sose, and Visk head out the door, but Doane stops Lashley and says, "I want you to watch this match from my dressing room, sitting next to my bags." Doane gets up in
Lashley's face and says, "Because I'm a Wrestlemania Moment waiting to happen, and you'll go down in history as Ken Doane's bitch!" Doane shows Lashley the TV Title trophy and heads out to the ring as the camera zooms in on Lashley's enraged expression.

(2) OVW TV CHAMPION KEN DOANE WENT TO A DOUBLE OVERTIME DRAW WITH BRENT ALBRIGHT, AND THEN BOBBY LASHLEY TURNED BABYFACE. This plays out great. Doane and Albright have a really good match, and after about 10 minutes, we cut to a break during the action.

(Commercial break)

Doane is really beating down on Albright, and applies Albright's own finisher, The Crowbar. But Albright reverses it, and Doane is trapped with a minute to go. Doane holds on, the 20 minute time limit bell rings, then Doane taps after the bell, which doesn't count. Dean Hill says "So what do we do now?"

(Commercial break)

We come back, and they're still going at it, as we're informed Albright challenged Doane to an extra 5 minutes, and we're seeing it right now. Albright goes for the ten German Suplexes like last week on TV, but Doane hits an RKO out of the German Suplex and covers Albright. One, two, and then the bell rings, saving Albright. Now that's different. So what do we do now?

(Commercial break)

Albright says, "come on, Doane, get the job done." Here they go again, and another 5 minutes expires as they are brawling toe to toe in the middle of the ring. Albright says, "Let's give these people what they deserve, a winner and a loser." Doane counters, saying, "how many chances do you think you'll get? You can't beat me. As a matter of fact, I'll defend my title right here, right now, against anyone else but you."

This was Lashley's cue, and the roof blew off the New Davis Arena when Lashley came out. Lashley told Doane "you can fight Albright or you can fight me." Lashley then fired Kenny Bolin, which again got a humongous pop. Dean Visk attacked Lashley, and then Visk and Doane laid out Lashley and Albright side by side.
