TNA News: Ratings are in for Hulk Hogan Impact - did the publicity help TNA? Nov 2, 2009 - 10:35:33 AM
The October 29 edition of TNA Impact featuring Hulk Hogan's press conference signing averaged a 1.24 rating, which was up 12.1 percent from the previous week's 1.10 rating. Going back to the Super Impact leading to the Bound for Glory PPV from two weeks ago, Hogan Impact was up 27.0 percent.
Everything was solid across the board except for more viewers tuning in to the first hour compared to the second hour. The first hour averaged a 1.26 rating and the second hour averaged a 1.21 rating.
The second hour also had two of the least-watched quarter-hours of the entire show and the final quarter-hour drew the fewest number of viewers of the entire show. Quarter-hour ratings break down with full explanation.
Impact was very strong with the male demographic. The show averaged a 1.10 rating among males 18-49 and a 1.06 among males 19-34. Both were the highest ratings since the March 19 edition of Impact.
Caldwell's Analysis: Now we see if TNA can keep up the ratings momentum they started. It's worth pointing out, though, that TNA did not retain viewer interest from the start of the show to the end of the show, especially when the last quarter-hour of the show drew the lowest rating of the show. Viewers tuned out as TNA kept promising and promising Hogan on the show before finally delivering him in a basic press conference at the very end of the show. Impact peaked in the fourth quarter-hour of the show, then slowly began dropping off until hitting the low point at the end of the show. TNA should consider under-promising, then over-delivering with Hogan next time and making viewers feel like they actually received value for waiting patiently.
