Hulk Hogan Radio Appearance
"Mancow & Cassidy" radio show in Chicago
Thursday, October 29
Report by Torch subscriber Seth Zillmann
Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart joined the Mancow & Cassidy program in Chicago at about 9:00 a.m. local time for about an hour. It wasn't all interview, and they ran the show as normal for a while with Hogan just giving input here and there. The non-Hogan or non-wrestling talk will be abridged or omitted here. If you were hoping for TNA talk, there was barely a mention as it was mainly a plug for his book and classic WWF talk.
Mancow didn't want to play the "American Made" song Hart wrote for Hogan (the one he used in WCW) and played "Real American" instead. He called Jimmy Hart a professional butt-kisser.
Then Hogan joined and cut a promo saying Jimmy is the greatest manager of all time, and one of his best friends. And since he's had his butt kicked for so many years it's nice to have somebody to kiss it every now and then. They made reference to the WCW match where Mancow wrestled Hart and Hart suffered a leg injury. Hart said he wanted a rematch.
Co-host Pat Cassidy talked about how interesting the book is and how Hulk really opens up about his problems in it. Hogan talked about hitting Rock Bottom and how he lost everything including his family. Mancow said it's encouraging in the end because here is a man that lost everything and was able to put himself back together.
Mancow claimed that there is a book signing at 7 p.m., and there are people already waiting at the store. They made a joke about how Jimmy shouldn't have a microphone and should just be a coffee boy for everybody.
Mancow talked about the economy and how hard it is on some, but how some are actually stronger due to time with their family. Hulk said that people who really believe in the right things are "standing the test of time". Mancow mentioned the suicide thoughts and wondered how could his childhood hero have gotten this low. He said he played with a Hogan thumbwrestling figure and used to watch the cartoon, so Hogan was a childhood idol.

After the break they talked Macho Man Randy Savage briefly, and Hogan said he doesn't know what Savage has been up to, but that he looks like Santa Claus now. For some reason they started talking about the Michael Jackson movie for bit, as well as problems with nursing homes.

They played the old song Jimmy Soul song "Happy For The Rest Of Your Life," which has the line "Never Make A Pretty Woman Your Wife" and joked about how true the song seems to be.
They talked about WrestleMania III and the 93,000 audience. Hogan boasted that an attendance like that will probably never be repeated. Hogan also said he's honored that there are people still wanting to meet him and talk to him after all this time. Mancow asked him "What exactly is a Hulkamaniac?" Hogan said the training, the prayers and the vitamins, and that's what he did early in his career.
On the subject of his son's accident, Hogan claims that his son was treated unjustly. He mentioned that the judge said if he wasn't who he was, he probably would have gotten a lighter sentence. They also talked about his 50 year-old ex-wife dating and 18-year old, and American Gladiators. Hogan said he was a little uncomfortable with the Gladiators show because he had to hold microphones rather than being the one having the mic held for him.
They did a little refinancing talk (I think it was a veiled plug for a sponsor) then went to another break.

"Real American" was played again as a bumper. Mancow talked about how wrestling is real in a way. Hogan said he had three back surgeries just this year. Hogan said that he doesn't like the "fake" word even though it is predetermined. Cassidy asked why he wrote the book. Hogan said he used to think that anybody that contemplated suicide was a coward. But he came home with an empty house, with his family not talking to him, and having to sell both houses. His first thought was just having a drink. He wound up drinking an entire bottle of rum and downing a few Xanax pills, and the next thing he knew he was in his bathroom with the gun in his mouth. Layla Ali called soon after. He said that his Christian faith was a big help to him, and he forgives everybody including the young man his wife is now with.
Hogan ended his time cutting a few promos saying "Whatcha gonna do when Hulk Hogan, Team Mancow... (comedic pause) and Jimmy Hart too" run wild. He also said he's joining TNA to take over the business again, and how he'll put afternoon host Roe Conn in a leglock if he's not with Team Mancow. There was no plug for Hogan appearing on TNA Impact tonight.
