TNA News: Additional notes on Hogan-TNA agreement and its ramifications Oct 27, 2009 - 6:49:32 PM
Here are a few items regarding the Hogan-TNA situation that PWTorch has learned in the last few hours:
-Vince Russo still has his job and is not acting shocked or worried by this news. He's scheduled to be part of a small contingent of TNA representatives at Spike TV headquarters in New York tomorrow.
-Dixie Carter first floated the idea of having Hulk Hogan as an on-air authority figure for the company within a short time of the falling out with Jeff Jarrett.
-Although not the sole reason Sting was talked into staying around, if Dixie had an inkling of this happening, it might have been a reason she pushed for him to stick around for another year when he had spent most of the year pretty convinced his last match would have been nine days ago at Bound for Glory.
-The rumor among wrestlers is that Hulk Hogan wanted Kevin Nash to be booker, but it doesn't appear there is anything to that. In fact, Nash is officially suspended from the next TV taping because of his going off script in the ring at the last taping.
-Eric Bischoff posted this on his Twitter account mid-afternoon yesterday: "Nunquam Narro Nunquam......" Translated, that's: "Never say never."
-There is still a strong possibility Hogan's involvement is short-term based on what's known at this time, but not enough is known to rule out that he's got an ownership interest, either, and is committed long-term.
Keller's Analysis: I can say that based on Eric Bischoff's words and tone in my five hour interview with him several weeks ago that this was not on his radar at the time. His involvement in helping TNA create new programming may have been on his radar, but the extent of his and Hulk Hogan's involvement seems to be amped up to a level he wouldn't have anticipated at the time. He did sound like he wouldn't rule out returning in a major way to pro wrestling, but it wasn't something he was striving for nor did he seem to have an inner need to return and avenge his defeat at the hands of Vince McMahon. That all said, he sounded like someone who had a blast in the Monday Night War era and, under perfect circumstances, would definitely entertain the idea of diving back in. At this point, his involvement is still not known beyond his TV company helping TNA develop more programming.
