TNA News: Kurt Angle claims TNA bookers not telling wrestlers who's winning TNA World Title until the PPV Jun 20, 2009 - 10:40:09 AM
TNA wrestler Kurt Angle claims the wrestlers in tomorrow night's King of the Mountain match for the TNA World Title have not been told who's winning the match. He says they likely won't know until Sunday morning.
"There's been a lot of preparation, a lot of ideas thrown around. But it's been kept quiet. The bookers, the writers are not telling anyone who the winner is going to be," Angle told Tim Baines of the Edmonton Sun. "As wrestlers we usually know well ahead of time, a month ahead of time."
Angle talked coyly that he doesn't expect to be booked to win the match because his job is to elevate talent, not necessarily hold onto TNA's top title, which is currently held by Mick Foley.
"I like to see talent become superstars. Would I bet on Kurt Angle? Well, I haven't won in a while," Angle said. "Do I need it? Not necessarily."
Angle said he's a team player in TNA and doesn't need any more title victories to stroke his ego. He said he'd rather make stars than have title runs.
"I'm not afraid to lose. It's not about the championships, it's not about beating Ric Flair's record," Angle said. "If I can help develop ten more stars, I can hang up my boots."
