TNA News: Kurt Angle interview - open to WWE return, wants to retire in TNA, discusses TNA contract status Jun 19, 2009 - 6:00:51 PM
TNA star Kurt Angle says he's reconciled bitter differences with WWE chairman Vince McMahon to where he would be open to "one last run" in WWE down the line before he retires from wrestling.
"I can't tell you where I'm going to be in three years. I'd like to be in TNA, but I can't guarantee it," Angle said on Sports Radio WDFN today to promote the TNA Slammiversary PPV. "If I could have one last run, heck, I'd do it. Why not? Rumors are going to be flying now that Kurt Angle wants to go to WWE. Honestly, that's completely untrue. I'm very happy where I am."
Angle said he's made amends with Vince McMahon, which has made him more open to the possibility of returning to WWE one day. He's taking the classic "never say never" approach.
"I'm no longer bitter about WWE. Vince McMahon and I had a falling out, but everything is cool now. Him and I have kind of made peace with each other," he said. "You just don't know what's going to happen in this business. Sometimes there's trades. Mick Foley jumped over (to TNA). I jumped over."
Angle said he wants to retire in TNA, though. He currently has two years left on his TNA contract and he hasn't decided whether to continue wrestling past his current contract based on his health.
"Right now, taking it one day at a time. See how my body feels and see how long I want to go," Angle said. "As far as health-wise, I'm fine. The work load can be too much at times."
Angle said the travel, media appearances, and working live events for TNA can be stressful for him while he's also keeping busy doing movies, but he feels like he's contributing to a worthy cause and has a purpose in the wrestling business.
"It makes me feel like I'm serving a bigger purpose in a smaller company to make it into an identical company to WWE," Angle said.
