ROH News: Details on Ric Flair leaving ROH show last night before scheduled main event role Jun 14, 2009 - 5:25:35 PM
Ric Flair was scheduled to be ringside enforcer for last night's ROH Title match, but Flair walked out of the building in New York City before his scheduled role in the main event.
Flair cut a brief promo in the first-half of the show where he talked up the wrestlers and the ROH promotion. Flair then left the building instead of fulfilling his role in the main event, reports Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com.
ROH president Cary Silkin was reportedly aware of Flair leaving before the main event, but many wrestlers believed he was walking out on the promotion.
Prior to the main event where Austin Aries and Tyler Black challenged Jerry Lynn for the ROH Title, Aries cut a promo that Flair would not be ringside due to "circumstances beyond ROH's control."
Flair was reportedly concerned about HDNet bringing a crew to last night's show in NYC to film scenes for upcoming ROH TV shows. Flair does not want to appear on ROH TV to conflict with his commitment to WWE. Flair is expected to be at WWE Raw on Monday night from Charlotte, N.C.
Flair was originally scheduled to be the special referee for last night's ROH Title match, but that was changed last week to simply being a "ringside enforcer." Turns out he didn't fulfill either role.
Flair is still scheduled to make appearances for ROH on future shows, including a July date in Toronto.
