July 28 Update: Matt Striker and former WWE Spanish language announcer Hugo Savinovich will call AAA's "TripleMania 23" PPV in English.

Striker is currently on the commentary team for AAA"s "Lucha Underground" off-shoot on El Rey Network. “Hugo is rich in experience and insight while Matt is a tremendous analyst. We are excited to have them join the pay-per-view production,” said Court Bauer, Executive Producer for Triplemanía XIII, in a press release Tuesday.

The event from Mexico City starts at 7:00 p.m. EST on cable and satellite systems across North America.

Former WWE stars Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio (Alberto El Patron) are returning to PPV in North America.

AAA announced Wednesday that TripleMania 23 will air on PPV in the U.S. and Canada on Sunday, August 9.

The event is headlined by a double main event of Mysterio vs. Myzteziz (Original Sin Cara/Mistico) and Alberto vs. Brian Cage in a Hair vs. Hair match.

“We hope that all of our viewers will enjoy the high-pace lucha that AAA has to offer. It is exciting times for Lucha in North American and AAA wants to give to the audience a new option in the wrestling industry,” AAA General Manager Joaquín Roldán said in a press release.

AAA has a presence on U.S. TV with the "Lucha Underground" series on El Rey Network. AAA is now looking to expand its reach in North America through PPV delivery.

“AAA is one of the hottest Latin sports media brands with a growing global presence. Triplemanía XXIII on pay-per-view is a major step for AAA’s global strategy. What better way to enter the U.S. and Canadian pay-per-view market than with this very special event,” said Court Bauer, executive producer for Triplemanía XXIII.

The event is priced at $19.95 standard and $29.95 HD on most cable and satellite providers in North America.
