New Japan Dominion PPV News & Notes 7/5

-- "Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada captured the IWGP World Hvt. Title from A.J. Styles in the main event of New Japan's July PPV.

This was a Match of the Year contender ending Styles's five-month title reign and starting Okada's third title reign, two years removed from his previous title victory.

-- KUSHIDA captured the IWGP Jr. Hvt. Title from Kenny Omega to follow up on KUSHIDA winning the Best of the Super Jrs. tournament.

Both Okada and KUSHIDA are scheduled to return to the U.S. in August for Ring of Honor's Summerslam Weekend shows in August.

-- The other title change of the show was Bullet Club's Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows capturing the IWGP World Tag Titles from The Kingdom's Matt Taven & Mike Bennett. Bullet Club lost two titles (Styles and Omega, but gained the tag titles).

-- In other title matches, Hirooki Goto retained the IWGP IC Title against Shinsuke Nakamura, who is also scheduled for the ROH tour in August. Plus, the Young Bucks retained the IWGP Jr. Hvt. Tag Titles and Togi Makabe retained the NEVER Openweight Title against Tomohiro Ishii.

-- New Japan announced headline matches for each night of the G1 Climax tournament, which runs July 20 through August 16. Matches announced can be found HERE.

-- Ring of Honor was featured and mentioned throughout the PPV. Included was ROH footage during a hype video for Okada prior to the IWGP World Title match against Styles.
