Independent star El Generico could be making his final independent appearance in his hometown of Montreal this weekend.

Generico, who has reportedly signed with WWE, is scheduled to face Chuck Taylor at Sunday's "Battle War 7" event in Montreal. The promoters suggested it could be Generico's farewell match in the city where his career started.

First this weekend, Generico is scheduled for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's DDT4 tag tournament Saturday night in California before flying back to Canada for Battle War on Sunday.

"Almost 24 hours ago, the Internet exploded with talk and rumors of El Generico signing a WWE contract. We can neither confirm nor deny these rumors. What we can confirm is that El Generico will be in action at BATTLEWAR 7," reads Battle War's Facebook.com statement on Wednesday.

"We can also confirm that El Generico will be taking on 'The Kentucky Gentleman' Chuck Taylor. These two competitors have a long-standing rivalry that has seen them do battle throughout promotions in North America that include PWG, Dragon Gate USA, CHIKARA, and it appears that the rivalry will continue on Sunday.

"With that being said, if these rumors do in fact prove to be true, then this may very well be El Generico's final match in Montreal. The city where his career began over ten years ago. Therefore, we cordially invite all Montreal wrestling fans as well as fans of El Generico to attend BATTLEWAR 7, this Sunday night at Les Foufounes Electrique."
