The following are excerpts of PWTorch editor Wade Keller's "Torch Talk" with Lanny Poffo, Randy Savage's brother, in 2008. This excerpt includes Poffo discussing how he and Randy found out about Elizabeth's death, Savage's former wife.

Wade Keller: Were you ever close to Elizabeth? Did you end up being friends with her?

Lanny Poffo: If you look at the match made in heaven, the marriage that was in Madison Square Garden, you'll see my daughter and my wife. It proves it's who you know, right? They were in the wedding as flower girl and maid of honor, my ex-wife. So that's pretty close, right?

Keller: How did you learn about her death?

Poffo: On the internet. I looked at it and said, "Oh my God, Elizabeth died."

Keller: Do you know how Randy heard of it? Did you break the news to him?

Poffo: I never mentioned it to him. I asked my parents and he already knew. When I called my parents, they had already known because Randy had told them.

Keller: Had you or anyone in the family stayed in touch with Elizabeth after she and Randy broke up, or did you guys all go your separate ways?

Poffo: I never spoke to her again. And then later on in the WCW, Randy brought her in to use as an angle, and to get closure to everything... I was in WCW famously on the payroll but not working, so I decided to take my suitcase there and see if they could use me at all, and that's where I saw the lovely Miss Elizabeth in the dressing room. She said hello to me and we talked for about five minutes and that was the last time I saw her.

Keller: When you bumped into her and shared a few words, was it awkward or was it just a pleasant exchange?

Poffo: No, I was glad to see her. She seemed happy to see me. Nothing to talk about here, folks. We hadn't seen each other in quite a while. Certainly, if Randy was cool with it, so was I.

Keller: Did it surprise you that Randy was willing to work with her, or was it kind of on-air and behind-the-scenes closure for everybody?

Poffo: Well, Randy's all business and he doesn't let his personal life get in the way of his business life. He knew that there's a lot of fans that were really interested in seeing Elizabeth again, and he was right, they were. All that did was made Randy more important. And then they turned Elizabeth heel and did a couple of fun angles with the credit card. So give the people what they want and they will come out in record numbers. Randy believes in that, and he's probably the smartest guy in professional wrestling. He beat the business. Everybody says he has to make a comeback. He doesn't have to comeback anywhere. He's sitting pretty. He just made a movie called "Bolt." He told me that he didn't hear his own part. It was very small, but it was good for his Screen Actor's Guild card in order to keep up with the insurance and everything. He was very happy to have been asked. Everybody was very nice to him at Disney/Pixar.

Keller: Do you know how he got the part?

Poffo: They asked for him. How do you know how who gets a part? A bunch of people are sitting in what used to be a smoke-filled room and they say, "Maybe we should get the Macho Man to play a thug." And they say, "Well, let's call him." They remember him from Spiderman. I believe Spiderman was his greatest role, both at the box office - I see it on TV so many times. They really can't cut that scene because it's intricate in how the uncle dies. It's how Spiderman gets his beginnings.
