Chris Jericho said on NBC's "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno Wednesday night that he'll return to pro wrestling when he sees an opportunity to try something new with his character.

"If the time comes where I feel like I'm stimulated to go back and do something different because I'm always about pushing myself," Jericho said in response to Leno's question about whether he's feeling pressure to return.

-- Jericho's segment, which followed Academy Award winner Diane Lane as the featured guest, began with Leno describing Jericho as a "six-time WWE World champion" and "New York Times bestseller."

Jericho was introduced via a clip from ABC's "Dancing with the Stars." On set, Jericho recited lines from "The Outsiders" to impress Lane and noted he's always wanted to be on the Tonight Show. He then stood up and shouted, "I'm on the Tonight Show!"

Leno didn't have many speaking parts in the segment, as Jericho took over talking about his wrestling career, DWTS, and stories from his "Undisputed" book.

Jericho and Leno reminisced about meeting in WCW in the 1990s when Leno wrestled with Hulk Hogan at the Sturgis bike rally. Jericho quipped that it was obvious Leno should stick to being a talk show host.

Jericho then brought up Leno's monologue from last week (when The Rock was on), where Leno made a crack about Kirstie Alley being the only star on DWTS. After the clip played, Jericho frowned at Leno and said he has a bone to pick.

"The fact that I'm actually on your show means that I now am actually a star," Jericho said before quipping that the other option is the Tonight Show has plummeted with him appearing.

Jericho then talked about DWTS, saying he's not intimidated by the wild costumes the contestants are required to wear because he's been "wearing spandex and rhinestones for like 20 years." Jericho added, "These costumes are tame for me!"

Jericho noted his son never really cared to watch wrestling when he was on TV, but now that he's relevant on DWTS, his son is into it.

Next was Jericho describing his new friendship with American Idol contestant James Durbin. He also described a "rivalry" between DWTS and American Idol because of the proximity of their recording studios. Jericho joked that he "crossed the line of death" between the two shows to befriend Durbin.

At the end of his segment, Jericho talked about being a matchmaker with celebrities, his potential wrestling future, the similarities between wrestling and dancing, and "Undisputed."

As part of promoting his book, Jericho described the origins of the word "froot" that he tried to create with his band so they could have their own word. Leno then quipped Jericho has way too much time on his hands.

Leno then gave a final plug for "Undisputed" as the show went to commercial with photos of Jericho from his earlier wrestling days with the long hair and long beard.
